Here's one for the "more mature" RWOers. My stepson has gone over to WA for our game against Freo and went to a member function there. He ended up sitting next to and chatting with Eric Sarich who played 62 games for us in the mid to late 1960s. Eric is now in his 80s but obviously still attached to the Bloods!

That's brilliant, Eric was quite the local identity in Perth in my youth, in both media and commerce (as well as the connection to Ralph as also mentioned) - didn't realise there was a Swans connection.

I loved this story - there was some press earlier in the week about declining numbers of indigenous players entering the AFL and there were general statements about a desire to do something about it. So to see this initiative a little time later was great to see the AFL walking the talk. Of course, so much more needed to be done, but getting the great Bud involved at grassroots in this manner is a tremendous start.

I watched the VFL game against them and he's still turning the ball over just about ever time he gets it. It's a mystery how our recruiters got this one so wrong, and the draft pundits as well. It's so hard to fathom why Dylan sees reads the game so poorly.
