While I'm usually not interested in most market research or survey questions, there is a question that I'd love to see answered in regards to tonight's game. That is: what percentage of people are watching, because they want to see Carlton get to about five goals in front at half-time and somehow still manage to lose?

I mean, is there something perverse about me, for wanting to see their season descend further into tragi-comic misery? Or is it something that most Australians want to see? I suspect it skews towards the latter. Or at least most of the neutral fans watching. And possibly many Carlton fans, as well, who now want to see the end of Voss.

Now that I think of it, it probably wouldn't be the most trivial or frivolous market research question commissioned by AFL management.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about tomorrow's game, is that there'll be a debut for another Swans Academy product; Angus Anderson. He was probably a bit unlucky not to pick up a rookie contract in his draft year. He then went to Sturt in the SANFL to try and further his career, which culminated in him being BOG in last season's grand final. So good luck to him. When I've got an hour or two to spare, I must write down all the academy products now playing for other clubs in the AFL, VFL, SANFL and WAFL.

The first Saturday game is between 5th and 9th. Strangely it's North in 5th and Brisbane in 9th. Possibly the last time this year that North will be in the top six.

Possibly the match of the round will be the Saturday night class between the Hawks and the Bulldogs. Anyone want to try and convince me to barrack for either side?

Snell to be one of the travelling emergencies in case Melican doesn't come up, even hough he wasn't mentioned in the club's Injury Report.

Papley and Rosas to perhaps share more midfield time to cover Sheldrick. Hard pressed to make further changes after such a huge win

Dattoli and Maclean appear to be pressing for selection going by their recent VFL form.

With the Easter long weekend, there’s now at least one AFL game for five successive days. I'm pretty sure that's what Jesus would have wanted.

Interesting start to the round tonight, with Brisbane hosting Collingwood. Both sides have a few significant injuries. Either side could be in a small amount of trouble if they lose.

There might be a fair amount of interest in the Friday game between North and Carlton. Mainly because of the mounting pressure on Voss, after the recent capitulation to Melbourne. Personally, my most likely scenario for game, is that Carlton will struggle to get to around a two goal lead at half time, which will lead to North being so overconfident, that somehow they won't manage to run down a tiring and inept Carlton.

Then comes perhaps the game of the round, between Adelaide and Fremantle. Adelaide are slight favourites, despite Fremantle being in perhaps slightly better form. I think both sides are genuine finals contenders.

Perhaps the most interest on Sunday, is how many points the Bulldogs can rack up against Essendon. It could get very ugly.

Then the round finishes with the now traditional clash between Hawthorn and Geelong. Should be a hard fought clash, but I'm not sure if I want either side to win. Perhaps each side could kick something like 1.9 for an ugly draw, played in gale force winds and torrential rain. Maybe the old testament God could get in the on the act, by sending a plague of frogs or something?

I imagine the likes of Cunningham and Dattoli will come into consideration soon as they work towards full match fitness plus form.
Hoping Cootee, Philipou and Bowman won't be too far behind.

Potential danger game as we need to be switched on as WC will be on a high after having scoring back to back wins and will give themselves a chance.

I love the little fella. What a find he was in that rookie draft, probably our last great find there.

His best is elite. Charlie Cameron may have pushed a little ahead of him the last year or two based on continuity, but he’s been as elite a small forward in the comp in the last seven or eight years as there’s been.

I hope his body can cope with being such an explosive player for another few years whilst our window is open. We play far better when he’s out there and in form. He’s a sneaky long kick for goal and his instincts around the ball are unreal. And Heeney got the attention for good reasons, but that final quarter against GWS in the final in 2024 was something special.

And god bless him for being such an energiser bunny. I know his style isn’t for everyone, but he’s our man and hope he sticks it up ‘em against the Weagles.

Could be an enjoyable game tonight. Geelong are short priced favourites, probably because Adelaide haven't won at Geelong's strangely shaped ground since 2003, but I suspect that Adelaide are the better side. So it might be a fair bit closer than the odds suggest.

The final game of the round between Carlton and Melbourne might also be entertaining. Not that I think either side are likely contenders, it's more that seem sort of evenly matched, lower half teams.
