    The Smartest Player = The Most Successful Coach?

    At the moment, Roosy has slipped into the mangled psyche of every other coach in the AFL. Even Kevin Sheedy is worried about how good he is, Sheeds wants him to retire now! hehe

    As just about one of the smartest men I have ever seen out on the field, he has proven to be one of the smartest from the coaches box as well. Not just the coached box, but all week!

    When you think about it, of the teams ahead of us at the moment, all coaches were very good players. Not loaded with magnificent instinctive play like say Andrew McLeod, but....

    Matthews - Clearly brilliant and always read the play miles ahead of any of his opposition or colleages for that matter;

    Worsfold - well Woosha was a champion of his club and always a great thinker of the game;

    Chocko - One of the craftiest midfielders of his day and everyone knows that he has a passion for his club like no other in the comp;

    Roosy - Well Roosy used to seem to be playing a game that no one else was. He seemed to have 10 or 15 seconds to make his mind up when he got the nut and when he got rid of it, someone was the lucky recipient of a great pass. It's a micro aspect of a great career, however....

    I think we have the makings of a great great coach and his staff are doing great things for him. All cogs are firing, midifield (Malaxos), our forwards (John) and our fitness, Misso and Gibbsy are doing terrific jobs. Luck has a lot to do with injuries but when the coaching staff are mindful/strategising from pre-season onwards, it makes a difference. This has been our best year for injuries for 4 years (touch wood).

    A 61.9% winning record is a fair return too!
