    Just something to think about

My father sent this e-mail during the week to Gerard Healy.

I have been a Bloods supporter all my life . Other than when I
played footy for Clayton in the Federal League , I have missed very few Swans games and have in fact only missed one game in Melbourne since their move to Sydney.

I must say I'm looking forward to Friday night when they name the 'Team of the Century', which is why I'm writing to you. Because of the guidelines that specify that a player had to play 75 games to qualify (which I suppose is ok ), I believe the team will be robbed of probably the most talented and gifted player of the last 40 years. Recruited from Moorabbin in the mid
60's , a player by the name of Max Papley played 59 games from 64' to 67' , and was nothing short of sentational. The problem is back then South were pretty ordinary , and other than Skilton and Graeme John had no real superstars and languished at the bottom of the ladder. Because of this they rarely featured on replays which meant that the general football public never got to see Papley with the result that the bloke is relatively
    unknown .

Overall Skilton is the best South player I have seen at the club, but for sheer skill ,poise and match winning ability Max was cetaintly in Skilt's class . If you need clarification of this just ask Skilton himself . Having said all this, if Max had one weakness ( and I may be doing him a bit of a disservice ) it may well have been that he lacked the dedication of others less gifted than himself . But really that is more a perception than
    anything else.

Perhaps you may like to throw that open tonight or perhaps have Max on.

All the best on your own prospects and no doubt you are a certainty to be named.

    Thanks and regards
    Bloods
