Sydney's projected picks were:
16. Sydney ? Brent Stanton
(Northern Knights) 1 May 1986, 180.7cm, 77.6kg
After an outstanding National AFL Draft camp, Stanton firmed considerably as a first round draftee, particularly after finishing in the top 10 per cent for the left-leg running vertical jump, five-metre sprint, 20-metre sprint and 3-km time-trial. Sydney is reportedly very keen on Stanton, but Essendon has emerged as a serious contender to snap up Stanton at No.13. Geelong has also showed interest, but in all likelihood would have to claim him at No.7, as the Cats next pick is at No.22. A skillful midfielder, Stanton was an AIS/AFL academy member and a Vic Metro representative in 2003.
29. Sydney ? Will Gayfer
(Murray Bushrangers) 12 July 1985, 192cm, 92kg
Like Dyson, early on Gayfer was looming as a strong candidate to be a first round draftee, but has slipped back to a likely second to third round draftee. The competitive key defender, who was arguably the Bushrangers? best player in this year?s TAC Cup grand final loss to the Cannons, has reportedly attracted strong interest from Sydney, as they look to bolster its defensive stocks. A strong overhead mark, Gayfer is a no-frills defender, who is reliable and can nullify an opponent, while setting up valuable passages of play. Port Adelaide is also another club that may sound him out, while the Kangaroos could show an interest in him, if he is still available with their third selection. He is a similar type of defender to his older brother Mick ? the 1990 Collingwood premiership player.
45. Sydney ? Tim Schmidt
(West Adelaide) 14 March 1986, 178cm, 79kg
A talented midfielder who shone in 2002 at the National AFL under 16 championships ? winning the Kevin Sheehan Medal for the best player of the under 16 carnival ? yet he had an injury interrupted year in 2003. Schmidt was a member of the AIS/AFL academy this year, while he also represented South Australia in the National AFL under championships. He is reportedly attracting keen interest from both Port Adelaide and Sydney, with the Swans right in the mix.
47. Sydney ? Tom Logan
(Waratahs/Darwin) 2 July 1985, 185cm, 76kg
One of the most likely draft prospects to emerge from the Territory, aside from Clarke, is Logan. The talented forward/midfielder was shone at this year?s National AFL under 18 championships, when he was the only player from the Territory to gain All-Australian selection. Logan also had an outstanding National AFL Draft camp this year when he won the right-leg vertical jump and the 3km time-trial. He also came second in the agility test and fourth in the shuttle run to complete some impressive results. A fine leader with a strong work ethic, Logan is likely to be a late third to fourth round selection with Sydney, the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs possibly in the mix.
Trotter apparently set to go in middle 1st round, and they picked Seymour to go to the Tigers and Mott to go to the Crows. Other players we're supposedly interested in are Troy Chaplin, Sam Butler, Daniel McConnell, Ryan Murphy
