A turnover forced by Goodes; an inside 50m by Goodes; two kicks by Goodes, two handballs received by Goodes, an attempted goal assist and a right-foot snapped goal.
Goodes to Barry Hall to Goodes to Adam Schneider to Goodes -- goal.
The remarkable passage of play in the second quarter of the Swans' win against the Kangaroos on Sunday is already being touted by some as Goal of the Year.
Goodes yesterday relived the memorable play.
Teammate Ryan O'Keefe had just passed up the half-back flank towards him, but Kangaroo Michael Firrito charged, intercepted and was looking to kick inboard.
"He went to kick and I came around on the mark," Goodes said. "He was trying to centre the ball. I smothered it. I was lucky enough that the ball bounced back up into my hands.
"Barry Hall was pushing upfield into the space so the Kangaroos couldn't go lateral, so I chipped it to him. Then Barry handpassed it back to me. Then there was a Kangaroos player in front of me, so I chipped it over him to Adam Schneider, but it was touched.
"Schneider had to dive on the ground. I kept running. Schneider handballed underneath the Kangaroos player. The ball bounced up nicely to me. I had a bounce. Ran around on the angle and, luckily enough, I had enough space in front of me to kick a goal."
The goal encompassed the broad range of skills that sets Goodes apart: his athleticism, aerobic capacity and his second and third defensive and, in this case, offensive, efforts.
The latter category was the area he identified as in need of improvement before his breakthrough 2003 season.
"You can't think once you get rid of the footy your work is done," said Goodes, who was reluctant to highlight his own brilliant effort and was quick to point out the spectacular 35m goal soccered off the turf by teammate Jason Saddington on Sunday.
"It is probably one of the most involved goals because I had three touches in the passage of play. I've kicked goals in different situations of a game which might put the team back in front I would say were far better and more important for the team."
The Swans had a recovery session at Coogee yesterday as they start their preparation for Saturday night's clash against Melbourne.
The success of the tall half-forward line comprising Goodes, Saddington and Hall presents Paul Roos with various selection options for the Telstra Stadium match.
Michael O'Loughlin (hamstring) and Nick Davis (hip) should be ready to return.
'It's just an added strength if we get Nick and Michael back in the team," Goodes said.
