    Winning Edge

An interesting perspective from the Adelaide Advertiser:

    WINNING EDGE

Sydney's selectors would have had a lengthy meeting about how to structure their side for the trip to Perth, where the Swans must win to end a three-game losing streak and square the ledger at 4-4. This is because they have options at selection.

By contrast, West Coast coach John Worsfold ? whose Eagles also have lost three games in a row ? has to check with his team doctor before reaching selection. And there is little on offer with Worsfold last night gaining only midfielder Chad Fletcher and key defender Quinten Lynch at selection which was shaped by Kasey Green's suspension for kicking.

Long-serving Eagle Michael Braun contends things can only get better as the younger and less-experienced West Coast players find their feet in the AFL. "As senior players we have got to help them out and they will get better with each game they play," he said.

West Coast will have the under-size forward system relying on Phil Matera and high-flying Ashley Sampi, while Brent Staker gathers experience at full forward.

Sydney will have the genuine targets of Barry Hall and Adam Goodes, who needs a confidence boost.

Between these attacks is a Sydney midfield that need only keep Daniel Kerr, Ben Cousins and Chris Judd working behind centre to make the difference.
