Roos and his rethinking ways (article)

    mmmmmmm.......
I agree with Roos there were some good things in the game but I really think he should have stuck to his guns on his initial response. Considering that they droped no one except warf the team has had no real reprocussion to what was a disgusting half of football.
The presure will really start to heat up on Roosy if one of two things have not happend by the end of the year :
    1. we make the finals
    2. we really start to unearth some skillful and agressive players who can concentrate for 4 qrts.
This article smacks of a young coach being afraid of upsetting his sensitive players . either that or collese thought what he said was bad publicity and he wanted somthing positive. Either way I think we are going down the same old road of developing a very highly strung and over sensitive team who don't have the skill or desire for success.
I know these are early days under Roos, but If he doesn't get tough and really stamp himself on the psyche of the club, and they fail , then everone will say that Terry Wallace should indeed have been the man; and they would be right.

    Roos re-thinks loss to Adelaide

A week is a long time in football and, on reflection, Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos has changed some of his views about last Sunday?s lacklustre performance against Adelaide.

Roos used words such as ?embarrassing? and ?lacking commitment? after watching his side slump to a four-goal deficit at quarter-time and seven goals at half-time.

Now he sees some positives in the Swans? performance and hopes they can take them and reverse the result when tackling Hawthorn on Saturday night.

?I think the score line was still embarrassing to be 45 points down [at half-time], I think the embarrassing part was for the players and the club,? Roos said.

?After you watch the game you analyse why does it happen and it certainly wasn?t through lack of effort it was more just some players at the wrong place at the wrong times.

?But once you see the tape you always see it a little bit differently.

?Certainly there were some players who were probably down on their best form ? there was no question about that, but the pleasing thing at least was the tackling and chasing seemed to be in reasonable order certainly after half-time we improved in that area as well.

Roos addressed all the players earlier this week to reinforce that everyone has to pull their weight.

?We are a team who needs 18 good players. I don?t think we are a team who can rely on five or six guys carrying the rest of the team whereas maybe an Adelaide with (Andrew) McLeod, (Mark) Ricciuto, (Simon) Goodwin, (Tyson) Edwards, and a fit (Wayne) Carey can.

?Brisbane?s five or six players can carry the bottom six or seven for a quarter a half sometimes a full game cause they are that good. We don?t have the top players who could carry the bottom five or six players every week.

?So the players need to understand if you are having a bit of a bad day you have to contribute in certain area and get to the right spots.

?We have acknowledged we are just not as talented as a lot of the top clubs so for us to compete favorably on the weekend we need everyone to be playing some good footy.?
