    RIP Troy Garner

Regular readers of this board and long-time RWO members will be saddened to learn that one of our number, Troy Garner (TroyG), passed away suddenly today.
Troy had a long media career, and his Saturday morning sporting program on Koori Radio was one of the rare promotional opportunities the local football competition had. Troy was a Balmain fan, and was often seen out and about at Sydney AFL matches.
On RedAndWhiteOnline, it was Troy who first suggested that the site should expand and cover the Sydney AFL competition. Troy wrote the weekly column from 2001 until 2003 and was a valued contributor to the message board. Without Troy's input, this site would not have covered the Sydney AFL in the way it has; and the Sydney AFL would be a lot poorer for that. Every one of us on this board owes Troy Garner a debt of gratitude - if it wasn't for him, there would be no NSW/ACT Footy board on RWO.

Many of us on RWO, through our local footy involvement, have known Troy. He had a passion for all sports at all levels; a passion that was evident through his media work.

RIP Troy Garner, condolences to his friends and family.

This thread will be locked, as a tribute thread has been set up on the RWO Chat board .
