    Drug Cheats

The three players, one from the West Coast Eagles, one from Port Adelaide and one from Fremantle, have each tested positive twice to social drugs banned in sport.

But Simon Marks, SC, for the newspapers, said they would argue the information was not confidential, and that names had been mentioned on the internet.

Mr Marks said the public held AFL players in high esteem. Players held positions of privilege and the public was entitled to know if players had taken illicit drugs
And conversely, journalists are held with such little regard that they can smoke, snort or inject whatever they like!

I'm surprised the AFL is looking into it when it should be the police, as it is a breach of privacy laws.

How can the leak not be from the ASDA? It must come from there, who else would know the test results?

If the police get involved, surely they would have to prosecute those who returned positive tests?

The AFL have requested the federal police to investigate the leak

As for state police charging the individuals, how would they establish the evidence?

To establish that the information was leaked and not just fiction, surely they must determine that the information about the tests was accurate?

Doubt that evidence would be admissible?

Why not? I don't watch Australian police dramas so I'm out of a reliable source of knowledge

And it's been over 20 yrs since I studied Evidence at Law School so I'm probably not equipped either. But I suspect the AFLPA would never have allowed these sorts of tests if they thought there was any prospect of them ending up in the hands of the Plods.
