I believe that can develop with more game time.

Liz, it's all well and good to say "Well we have a premiership, so obviously everything is perfect"

McVeigh didnt play many games last year, and the ones he did play he had little to no impact. I'm not questioning a premiership player here, Im questioning why is it, a young developing player comes back each pre-season with the build of a 16 yr old kid, When clearly one area that he struggles is hiz size. This is a number 5 pick, and people are saying its his last chance this year and that he needs to make it happen. He will never look comfortable on the pitch withi his current build.

So my question again is, sparing the "oh but were the premieres so dont dare question anything" reply what is happening with the conditioning of these young players?

Without wanting to speak for Liz, I thought she answered your previous query well, which was to question the whole of the Swans pre-season conditioning program,
I spose my question is this, is our pre-season conditioning program effective?
However, if your real query, as you stated in the last post is about young players pre-season conditioning, then I understand your query.

Yes, I was specifically talking about our up and coming players, not the seasoned ones!

For example, I appreciated that Moore seems to have lost some weight, thats great. But what about a few of them putting some bulk on?

I was thinking perhaps this is a syndrome of the "new" game. Reduced interchange, smaller long distance running midfield types. I'm all for them being fit, but whats the use of being fit enough to get too a contest when your to small to make an impact - literally.

I've told the story before about talking to LRT at the Club Champion Dinner at the end of 2003. Over a beer or three I told him he needed to bulk up over summer. He took another swig and said "Jeez, I'm drinking beer as fast as I can already!" and then joking mimed rucking with a big beer belly. And look what happened there - he's turning into the Incredible Hulk.

Do you really think no-one in the fitness department has thought "It'd be good if a few of the boys bulked up a bit - like McVeigh for example". Their regular tests would be aiming for them to develop as they need to to be most effective.

A few other unkind RWO-ers may claim that the club is ordering lots of pizzas for the skinny Swans but it looks like Jolly is scoffing the lot.

He does look a bit bulkier, and not in the good way.

All part of being Jolly I guess. If he starts wearing a red tracksuit to the game, then we should get really worried.

Personally i dont rate McVeigh. Cant remember him playing a really good game. I hope to god that Malceski doesn't get dropped. While he is no star he never looks like he isn't trying.

Good. A week or two off is what he needs.
