    And another thing...

...if Torture is to cop all that flak, then our other glamour recruit needs the blow torch just as bad.

Richards can play, it's evident - but I'm very concerned by some very unBloods-like softness at the ball that I've witnessed the last few weeks. The miss on quarter time was bad enuff (in fact it was a disgrace) but I can think of several occasions in the last few weeks where we hasn't been nearly hard enuff at the contest. Isn't this all part of the Bloods hazing inititiation where they take him behind the grand stand & beat the crap out of him till he understands what it means to be one of the Bloods?

He didn't have a kick after half-time - so if he's not getting a kick & he's not giving a contest then that puts him behind Torture in my book (clever tap on to Schneider in the last qr notwithstanding). Time for a spell in the ressies methinks.

He seems to fade out in the second half of games and his kicking is terrible.

I agree he seemed very soft and uncommitted to a few contests. Doesn't chase hard enough for my liking.

      What were his stats?

To all those who would drop half the senior team, please go and watch the reserves and nominate who you think should replace them.

There is talent there, but most of it is very very raw.

With Doyle now looking doubtful, the losses of Nicks, Schauble, even James, mean that we are very light on for senior quality depth. At the moment it realistically comprises Dempster, Moore, Vogels, and Spriggs if we get desparate. Shaw may press for selection as he gets a bit match fitter over the next month or so, and maybe Willoughby and Schmidt could improve, but they're looking iffy at the moment.

Currie showed some very early season promise and may show more of it when he returns from injury but he, too, is raw. Prior is a good mark and attacks the ball well, but his kicking is a mixed bag. Laidlaw may come into contention late in the season.

The rest need more time, lots of it.

Sometimes raw is good, as they have noting to lose and they playing exciting football and will give it 100% as they may never know when their next turn is going to be..like the yng boltons, okeefe's kirks did when they first be blooded into the team...

Easy. Anyone who wants to be hard at the ball will do. Skill errors I can live with (for a little while) - "softness" is anethema to our game plan (especially when it's coupled with skill errors).

I know for certain he won't be dropped but the microscope should well and truly be trained on him in coming weeks.

Now that we've all learnt to love Torture, we need a new Hack to love to hate.

Fortunately, SuperTed is playing the part beautifully. I now understand why he didn't want to play in defence for the Swans - apparently he has not the slightest idea of how to do it. I thought this was another dismal display by Richards & I seriously question where he belongs in our best 22.

We have a theory that at each contest, Ted seems to give up, but he is simply assuming that one of our players has been given a free, too long with Essendon perhaps?

For a moment there I thought I'd visited a very diffent sort of chatroom.

But seriously giant's correct he seemed to drop his load completely after that miss on quarter time.

I commented on another thread that he needs a massive kick up the proverbial.

Very little commitment to a contest. Does a lot of swearing when he messes it up. I'd rather he shut up and tried harder.

I wonder at his fitness and whether he can actually run out a game. However, this will be one area the swans can definitely work on. He's being shown up now at the top level. This isn't the Knob Cup. Must step up.

Hate to see Vogels languish in the 2nds for this pretender.

It's still early days with SuperTed but it does reconfirm my views that teams just don't jettisone good players for nothing. Sheeds also saw the same shortcomings that we are now starting to observe.

Willo, Baz, B2, Ball, Plugger. We've picked up some fair players from other clubs. Wouldn't B2's story be similar to Chambers/Richards?

                              In what way exactly?

B2 couldn't force his way into a team regarded as the best in history while the other two couldn't get games in two fairly average sides.
