Ended up as it should have...although I can't for the life of me understand why the three umpires are still umpiring seniors football this weekend.

Agreed. I reckon the game should end when the siren goes.

What's the bet that before seasons end the umpires will carry buzzers that go off when the siren goes.

This is going to open a can of worms now.

Where will the line be drawn for clubs appealing results?

It is only the second time in 110 seasons, so I think that is a storm in a teacup.

Would certainly have been disgraceful if St Kilda had held onto two points.
Dockers deserved to win, Dockers won, Dockers get the points.
It cost me the card, but the right result was awarded.

Nope. The game was tied because an umpire made a mistake. That mistake was able to be rectified three days later. This potentially opens a very large can of worms.

no umpire made a mistake because no umpire heard the siren.

the timeskeeper made the mistake and didnt keep blowing the siren.

They are saying that it was actually the time keepers fault for not continuosly(sp?)sounding the buzzer until the umps heard it,hence the laws of the game were not adhered to as apposed to the umps being at fault(human error)for not hearing it.So the the actual rules were broken rather than a usual ump error.

I dare say the timekeeper may be looking for work elsewhere.

He offered his resignation but it wasn't accepted. Apparently he's done timekeeping at over 500 games. He has however been given a break this week.

They enormous amount of media attention caused by this has made it disgraceful. I'm sorry but I think the lives of two trapped miners is much more important than 2 points...

Of course it is,but thats why this trhead is in general AFL forum, not current affairs, and this is a sports orientated site, and it is the story that has just been resolved.I am sure when the good news comes about the miners everyone will talk about that in that forum.
