One of my friends rang me to tell me that he was on Fox Sports News and White Line Fever.

          Going alright the old bloke.

Seviceable without starring. What I like is he is finishing his games off well, so his indurance is ok.

In the interview I heard on BigPond he has moved into second position for highest number of games by a Tasmanian. Alastair Lynch will be 7 ahead at 307. All going well he will surpass that total well before the end of the home and away. He joked that Roosy might sack him so as to preserve the record of his good mate Lynchy (from Fitzroy days). He also said that he would sit down mid year with Roosy and Andrew (Ireland) to determine his future. It's hard to read between the lines about whether there's another year left but post football he indicated that he would go back to Melbourne so the kids could see more of their grandparents.
Cressa was instrumental in getting him up to Sydney and he confirms that it was easily the best move he ever made.

There are some very flattering things being said over at Big Footy by supporters of all teams but especially Collingwood.

A few weeks ago he said his body still seemed good enough that he could consider another year. He's not as dynamic as he was but he's not that far off it.

How many of us here first had thoughts to Willo when the siren went last year - the most games played by any player without a Premiership until Sept 24 2005 - and Ball, playing his last game? Characteristically, Jason was exuberant that night and Willo was just quietly happy.

An unpretentious master of the game.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                    spot on.

                    i posted this at bigfooty...

i can call willo's goals with > 90% accuracy as he launches and you can too.

                    i) if he curls his tongue in his mouth as he kicks - goal
ii) if he doesn't - miss

possibly the best example of a player that has to be totally absorbed in the moment or his brain gets in the road.

funnily enough, while his brain brings him undone when he's got the sticks in range, it's that same noggin that gets him in precisely the right position so many times to receive the free ball.

i just love watching him play.
additionally, i heard he got into some financial trouble with a chain of sport stores he was a partner in. apparently he lost a lot of money. i hope he'll be set after footy regardless, but i imagine each decent year of afl pay he can get under contract he'll take. best of luck willo.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Which perhaps is why he's so mediocre at set shots . . . . . and why Ben Matthews is so good.

His game vs Geelong was outstanding - he's still gotta lotta love to give.

Interesting to compare how the Pies supporters view Williams & Davis - there is still genuine fondness for Willo & lot of people very happy to see him with a premiership medal. Their view on Davis is less generous.

An out and out Champion, what a pick up and how instrumental is he running through the lines and with his penetrating purposeful delivery

He will go down in our club history as one of our best

                              Well done Willo
