Swans chat Changes for Qualifying Final

Changes for the Qualifying Final seem pretty straight forward if all fit. In: McCartin, Papley, McInerney, Heaney. Out: Francis, Cleary, Adams, Fox.

And even sub will be difficult because Campbell has become important.

There is some harsh calls to be made. I don't think at all Adams is anywhere near the level he was early in the season, but he has winning finals experience, and is a hard nut that you might want in there come the big games. And Cleary has done absolutely everything one could have hoped from him the last few weeks - I expect he will go out, though it will be a tough call to say the least.

Great problems to potentially have however!

Yes, I think Adams is the more established player to miss out. While some of his in and under work has been good, some of his kicking has been lamentable. So, if you have a couple of excellent kicks, in Papley and McInerney coming back into the side, who can both spend a bit of time at centre bounces, then it might be history repeating for him.

I've also liked the pressure work of Cleary as a small forward. Which makes me more confident that he's going to develop into a quality player. Especially if he gets an extended run in his preferred role of inside mid. Perhaps in a year or two, we'll be calling him Caiden Clearance?

Agree. His kicking is poor at the moment- was it always this bad or just lately? Though his handball is quite accurate.

I'm a bit miffed that after finishing on top, we're slotted to play Saturday arvo instead of Thursday night. Understand loser of our final will play winner of Brisbane Carlton who play on Saturday night, so no disadvantage. Thought the top team gets rewarded with the premier fixture slot?

Won't make any difference anyhow if we win & go straight to PF with a week off!

Giants are 3 - 0 against us in Finals. Time to start evening up on that ledger!

I don't know that Adams has been a hard nut lately. Cleary impressed on Saturday.

                    Great to have RWO back!

Adams would be a handy sub, he's flexible and experienced. I agree re Campbell, he stays in the side. Francis out for sure, I reckon Fox would be unlucky to be dropped. He's a valuable player, has a cool head and usually uses the ball well.

Will JMac and Papley be fit and ready for the qualifying final vs GWS?

This won't be popular, but I'd have McInerney over Lloyd on a wing/halfback flank
Lloyd...He's been just ok for a while now. He seems to have slowed down and has zero penetration on this kicks.
Fox be the sub, he covers lots of positions
In : Heeney, McCartin, Papley, McInerney ...sub Fox
Out : Francis, Adams, Fox, Lloyd, Cleary(unlucky)

Have the Hawks totally transformed into a threat since we beat them by over 12 goals early in the season ?

I think Lloyd's experience is important. Happy for him to rotate off the bench. The issue with both Paps and Jmac is it might take a game under their belt to get to their top. Touch is an important thing. Against that their residual season's fitness might be enough. With Mills back in form and the spare in defence, I think JMac plays wing. I would rather have Cleary as the sub.

That they played him last game tells me Cleary is right in the mix.

Lloyd also can't beat his man one on one. I'm happy with your suggestions

Lloyd is a lock and has played well in many finals.
