General footy chat Finals Week 2

Starting a thread so we can discuss the two games this weekend.

Friday, Port vs Hawks, I would prefer Hawks to win, as even though Houston is out and Dixon is slow, Port have beaten us every time for the last few years.

Saturday, Giants vs Brisbane, I wouldn't mind coming up against GWS again in the GF (if we make it).

I am ambivalent on who wins re Hawks and Port.. I think that we should win no matter what given the bye this weekend. All I hope for is a spiteful clash, so that the players from both teams become really tired.. to help our boys run them off their feet the following week, For what its worth, I think that the Hawks would pose a greater challenge due to their run.

On the other side, I would love to see an interstate GF.. with the Giants to get through. I do not have hatred towards them.. rather think it will be good for football in NSW. Plus I have admiration for Toby Greene/Ash Taylor in that they stayed with GWS despite being offered crazy deal from elsewhere. Anyone but Geelong...who like Carlton seem to have an endless salary cap

Port’s manic tackling has put Hawthorn on back foot in first quarter. Can they keep it up??

I don't want to play Hawthorn. Look at the umpiring at the moment...that's what we'll get when we play the last Melbourne team in the finals. I'm going for Port. I don't think they can beat us at the SCG and they are a poor team, in terms of team spirit and they wilt when they are behind.

Yeah, you can pretty much guarantee the umps will be riding the new Victorian fairytale home if they win tonight and travel up to Sydney next week. Go Port.

Free kick hawthorn is back

the one to Chol was preceded by a poor high tackle call out of the middle too.

Yes those calls were terrible. I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist....but....we'll see....

Not a fan of Port, but I don't want to have another 'Bulldogs fairytale' experience.

I watched Port last week, they were awful. They are front runners- if we can get a good start we'll beat them particularly at a packed SCG.

With Hawthorn, there's an umpiring factor...so Go Port.

So far, I'd be comfortable playing either of these two next Friday.

Those dangerous tackle frees against Port were ridiculous. Late in the second you could see a couple.of Port tackles that were way softer than you'd expect, obviously a reaction to those frees. AFL needs to sort it out.

Outside a goal, Ginnivan barely in the game. He was largely MIA last week too.

Hawks get another from a free kick inside 50 when the ball was clearly out of bounds- shocker!

This is disgusting. We will get the same next week if we play Hawthorn. Port have lost this due to poor umpiring

I really was just in the mood for a good game of footy tonight, but the umpires have ruined it. Then to add BT to the mix makes it worse. I think I'll just turn it off. Poor Port. Rioli doing everything he can at the moment but they are obviously rattled.

High pressure but crap footy. I’ll give Port one thing - they’ve done everything possible to deny the Hawk overlap handball integral to their game.
