    Six teams with the hardest fixtures (based on finishing position of double-up opponents):
    * Brisbane
    * Port Adelaide
    * Sydney Swans
    * Fremantle
    * Hawthorn, Geelong (ranked equal)

    (IMO Fremantle got a difficult fixture considering they finished 10th.)

    Six teams with the easiest fixtures:
    * Melbourne, Richmond (ranked equal)
    * West Coast
    * Gold Coast, Adelaide, North Melbourne (ranked equal)

    (These are the bottom six teams from 2024, so this is fair.)

    Compiled from AFL rankings here: We break down your club's fixture.

      I know why they do it, and no level of whining from fans will change it, but gosh I hate how much of the fixture now is 'floating' in the back end of the season. Makes it really hard to plan if you like to do interstate trips.

      Tough old draw, but to be expected when you make the Grand Final. 2 interstate trips to every state though next year is a good boon for the interstate crew, but Melbourne based fans only get 5 games as a result. And only 2 at the MCG again.

        The fixture has become increasingly complex to work out over the years with all the nuances now involved, so there is always bound to be disappointed clubs/fans.

        St Kilda playing in SA 3 times in the first 5 weeks has their fans scratching their heads.

        Disappointing we still only get to play 2 games at the MCG as a regular finaliist. Think non Vic clubs who make finals (at least the top 4) should be rewarded with 3 MCG games. I think there is a contract deal where all Melbourne based clubs have to play certain amount of games at Marvel, which makes this difficult?

        Being a Melbourne based fan, playing only 5 games in Vic is a bit disappointing, but it's minus the 6th game we normally play down at Geelong. I recall in 2017 we had something like 8 games in Vic?

        Edit: In 2017, we did play 8 games in Vic. 4 at the MCG, 3 at Marvel and 1 at Geelong.

        We look into some of the highlights from the 2017 home and away fixture released on Thursday.

          I think one problem we might have with the back end of our fixture, is to do with the number of the dreaded five day breaks. In the already scheduled part of the season, we're one of a few clubs that don't have a five day break, while a couple of clubs have two. So, to bring us up to parity, it seems likely to me that we'll have two five day breaks, somewhere from round 16 onwards. Which is the time of year, when teams are both trying to gain maximum momentum heading into the finals, while keeping their squads as fresh as possible. Rather than having a banged up team, getting further banged up, after a couple of five day breaks

            Yep I think you are right deja - we look primed to have a tough run in from a scheduling perspective, given a pretty kind run to that point. I suspect, if both teams are travelling well, we will get a 5 day break Rd 15/16, with the Dogs at home being a Thursday night game.

              First weekend of May: NRL will go to Brisbane for Magic Round, Waratahs (Super Rugby) and Sydney FC (A League) will play outside NSW and Swans will host the Giants for the Sydney derby.
