Me too, I know a few are bullish on Snell and Edwards.
It's not impossible as we saw with Roberts but it is rare for a 0 gamer to come in and have an impact especially in the hole Tom Mc leaves.
I'm still hopeful Hayden Mc goes back, after watching Andrews dominate for Brissy
I just don't think we should under-estimate how hard it is to fill McCartin's role down back, as you say, so was curious as to what match sim suggested.
I like Hayden as a player, but I'm not convinced he has the agility to play as a defender. They do need pace off the mark, and a tight turning circle. I think he has some assets that are handy - strong in the contest, a terrific mark, a big tank, and good top line pace. He has also good hands in close. But I'd worry about him on the more explosive forwards.

I think it's quite plausible someone jumps up, and my understanding is the club is very high on Snell (though he's probably more your second or third defender).

And on defensive options, I think I read somewhere that Hamling may have been spending some time with the defensive group. So, since he was only playing as a VFL forward last season, because of injury to others, he should be a depth option, if needed.Comment

My take on McCartin training as a forward is to give him an idea of how to play that role if we need to make a change during a game. Last season we had forwards and we had backs and rarely did they change. McDonald as a key defender is the only instance I can think of off the top of my head.Comment

Yes, I'm keen on Snell and I tend to think that if given the chance, he will impress. So far, my hunch on McCartin moving forward, is that it's more of something that they're doing to give a bit of variety at training: which they might do with many players, just to give them a different look and work on some other skills. But there's probably an element in that, that if a player starts to excel, then it might be worthwhile persisting in the changed role. So, if McCartin is flying as a forward, then it could be a good idea to play him as a forward in a preseason game? But personally, if McDonald is going to have a delayed start to the season, then I'd rather give Buller a go: as he appears to be fully fit again and I thought he looked promising when he was injury free in 2023. Which I prefer to possibly destabilising our defence, by taking away the experienced and highly competent McCartin.
And on defensive options, I think I read somewhere that Hamling may have been spending some time with the defensive group. So, since he was only playing as a VFL forward last season, because of injury to others, he should be a depth option, if needed. My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

The latest Inside Sydney training footage.
There doesn't seem to be much to the Amartey/Andrew scuffle.Comment

Best scene I have witnessed
Andrew pestering Joel
just reminding him that there is a new kid in town on training park and on the basketball court
good to see Joel actually fire up a little
Riak appears a real competitor and probably is used to the Mac giving it to him growing up
welcome addition is Riak !!!!!

I saw the marking drills where he was trying to make contact, he is a big lad, just need to get his run up right, 2 steps and mark it high, stop engaging the defender so much. Way too easy to defend
Look at Treacy, young bloke that runs straight jumps high with no consideration for who is defendingComment
