Quite the achievement for Melican. In the latter part of last season, I think I was writing his career off, when he limped to the sideline with what appeared to be another soft tissue injury. But he recovered much quicker than many people expected and showed some really good form. Now he might be the linchpin of our defence.
Interesting that Green has been given an extended contract, when he's only really shown glimpses in the VFL, rather than any games where he dominated. So, must be showing plenty at training. Makes me keen to see him running around again.
Rookie Me are also suggesting that Noah Chamberlain is a posdible number one pick. Don't quite see it myself, unless he's had a recent growth spurt and he's now genuine key position size.

Watching the VFL, though Green never dominated he showed glimpses of his ability through some strong marks and tap work. Given until the end of 2027, he must have impressed someone.
Remember when Heeney and Mills and a bit later Blakey were drafted then later on when Gulden and Campbell were drafted? There was a lot of rejoicing by the Swans and great publicity by the footy media. It is time we had a three-peat! Are Chamberlain, King and Carmichael of the same class as the above 5? That is the question. If so our selectors/recruiters should have been preparing for this eventuality re draft picks etc.
As well as the trio of Carmichael, Chamberlain and King, we also have Kaiden McNamara coming through. He's a skilful half back flanker, who I rate pretty highly. Since Rookie Me have interviewed him, it seems that they also see him as a decent prospect.
Swans Academy defender Kaiden McNamara is looking forward to linking up with some of his highly touted teammates this year.
There might even be a situation, where he ends up being something of a consolation prize for us. That is, we're unable to match a bid for two of the three highly rated trio, but end up getting McNamara with a late pick or a rookie selection.
Co Warner's contract also expires this season and during Friday's trial game the commentators where speculating if he would follow brother Chad to WA if decided to leave or vice versa if Corey re-signs.
Regardless on what Chad ends up deciding, i'm cofident the club will offer Corey a contract extension knowing he is good enough to make it at this level and Corey will not be dependant on Chad's decision.
I'm in the belief Corey genuinely has a higher regard to be a regular in our team than just merely follow his brother.
So a two year option is one we’ve tabled for Chad. (I’m sure we’ve tabled two to eight).
He gets the benefit of getting to FA, a new players agreement and the Devils coming in - ie outrageous bidding.
There’ll be people pushing for trade him at end of year as we’d get more draft collateral than when he’s FA, but I think you keep him as long as you can. He’s potentially the difference between a flag or not.

KSAS Nostradamus!
I'm liking what I'm seeing from Corey, just needs a good run at it and current injuries will assist in that.
Of our suite of contract offers, the two year one through to FA must be a strong choice for Chad, he can walk to club of choice without being worried about the trade getting done.. We keep him for two more flag cracks, only downside is the pathetic FA compo we'd receive, but best hope of winning a flag is with Chad on board.
