Swans chat Team Changes Gather Round 5 v Collingwood

I think most likely there will be no changes this week after our performance against North. Logan won't come into calculations till the following week against Port at home. No need to risk him after coming off a 5 day break and could do with more minutes in the VFL. McInnery will also be available then from his suspension.

Only consideration is whether Sheldrick will wear the sub vest again.

The Pies will have 3 players out from last week. Houstan (suspension), DeGoey (injured) and Schultz (injured).

Yes, I think McDonald should have another week in the VFL to get more match fitness. Although somewhat irritatingly, the whole VFL has a bye this week; except for those VFL listed players chosen to play against a SANFL selection. But I think he sat out the final quarter on Sunday, so he probably needs more time.

I'd probably give Sheldrick a full game, as it makes it difficult for him to improve his form, if he's continually playing limited minutes as sub. Which probably makes Cleary or Corey Warner the likely subs. Maybe Hanily, but I'd prefer an actual small forward, rather than a midfielder filling in as a small forward. Whoever it is, will be a bit unlucky. Which I suppose is a good thing.

I'd say Warnwr is in the firing line for the sub vest, Cleary much more capable.

Id say Logan sitting the final term is more of an indication of rest for the next game as opposed to being underdone

Note sure we can go that tall

Melican and Cunningham both tests this week. You'd suspect if both get up, then Cunningham would play ressies to return to match fitness given his long lay off, but Melican would slot straight in for Hamling. Which is a bit cruel as Hamling has been very serviceable.

McDonald last week started great in the Jessie's but tired quickly - I'd say he's 1-2 weeks off being considered for seniors? I'd loathe to drop Ladhams as Grundy looked really tired last year having to carry the solo ruck work and so far Ladhams and Grundy have been working okay together. Ladhams has looked good as well, and has seemed to have gotten rid of his brain farts (bar that set shot ...)

Also agree that Corey Warner looked a bit average last two weeks and I'd play him as the starting sub. Therefore....

        IN: Melican
        OUT: Hamling

Corey Warner to sub, Sheldrick to start.

Agreed-Melican back in if fully fit, but wouldn’t be surprised if rested for another week. Harry will need a few more games in the ressies and Logan at least 1 more to gain match fitness. Gus to play and Corey the sub.

Sheldrick hard pass 12 possessions last weeks 6 of them clangers he needs and extended time in the 2s to work on tidying up his possessions and if possible work on getting some speed into his game

Agree on Cleary he led the entire team for 1 percenters (27) for me it’s as much about what you do without the ball as you do with it

Sheldrick played against North Melbourne in the VFL after playing as the sub. His VFL stats were 13 kicks, 5 handballs, 5 marks, 1 tackle and 3 clearances.

I don't see a compelling reason to change the team. Cunningham and Melican need to pass fitness tests and are underdone. McDonald needs a little more time to regain match fitness.

                My guess: No change.

No change for me, Just on Sheldrick he did play in the 2s and was underwhelming again (that could of been from backing up)

Suggests McDonald could come in to the team, replacing Ladhams.

The AFL article I linked previously has been refuted by the club. McDonald is still on "restricted minutes" and won't play against Collingwood this week.

I think McRae is worried about JJ playing on Nick D with his comments JJ better brings his running shoes. If Nick D ends up sacrificing his game as McRae is suggesting, that will be a win for us. JJ has taken his game to another level where he can also impact the scoreboard and not just play negating role.

I think Wicks will likely play on Hill and make him accountable with his rebounding role and laser kicks. I thought his game last week went under the radar, with Bice rightly receiving all the accolades. Having rebounding weapons in the likes of the Lizard, Bice & Wicks is one positive difference from last year.
This is where McRae might focus his attention over Heeney & Chad.

I expect M Cox & Hoskin-Elliot to be 2 of the 3 replacements coming into their side. I think our defence matches up well with their forward line on paper.

Josh D is another we may need to pay close attention, as he has habit of waxing with his brother in racking up big possession numbers together. Ollie might be a candidate.

I thought Cox had his first geat tactical game as coach last week, the way we were able to own the corridor by dnying North''s exists. This was aided by us starting to gel with his new defensive game plan. Wonder if he'll employ the same again this week.

It will requirera 4 quarter effort against the Pies who are very resilient and good at finding ways to score in the clinches. Tough game with a. close finish.

Teams are in. No change for Sydney. Collingwood have Sullivan, Allan and Hoskin-Elliott coming in for three injured players.

It should be a good game.

Bit of a mystery outcome this game .
if the goal sneaks can kick truly , I reckon we will squeak
