General footy chat Round 12: the other games.

Should be a one sided start to the round, when Essendon travel to the Gabbatoir tonight. Probably will be a fair but closer tomorrow in the clash between Collingwood and Hawthorn, but I can't see myself caring who wins.

One thing that I care a little bit more about, is the Saturday game between Gold Coast and Fremantle being broadcast live into southern Queensland on free to air. Since the Brisbane game was shown live last week, it suggests that the AFL might have relaxed the no live free to air on Saturday policy. I'm not sure if the same is happening in NSW, with Swans and Giants games?

Essendon just levelled the scores at 58. Giving the Lions a helluva fright at the moment.

A better game than anticipated last night, albeit largely because the Lions got complacent for a while. Bombers lacked the finishing in the end. Also a great goal of the year contender from young Caddy.

Richmond 34 points up against the Giants nearing 3/4 time???

Hmmm. Now only 4 pts up 18 mins into the last quarter.

Giants just snuck home. Bit of a shame.

Giants win by 3! The 28 point margin at 3/4 time is the equal largest they have trailed by at 3/4 time before winning the game.

Giants lost Callan Ward to a suspected ACL knee injury, and he has probably played his last game. He addressed the players at 3/4 time.

I actually turned it off at quarter time, because I thought the game was pretty well over. I was very surprised that the Bombers managed to make a game of it.

Two minutes into the West Coast v Geelong game, I was already wondering if any of the betting agencies are running a market, on who the Channel 7 commentators will wank over the most: Harley Reid or Bailey Smith.

Smith, so far. Not a bad first half.

Though personally, I'm enjoying the job that Liam Baker is currently doing in the back half, to keep the Eagles in it.

Always loved him as a player. Such a cunning little rat. The sort of player we could use right now.
