General footy chat Round 16: the other games.

The round begins with what might be a strange situation, where a large chunk of the Carlton fans would be hoping that they lose, so that Voss will be sacked as their coach. While an even larger number of Port fans will be death riding their own side, so that they can see the end of Hinkley. Not sure if that makes for an entertaining game, but the post-match meltdowns might be fun.

Not sure if there's much appealing with the rest of the round? Maybe Gold Coast trying to get back on track against Melbourne? Maybe Clarkson trying to coach North to an upset win over Hawthorn?

Our form against Port is starting to look a bit better. Although, the Carlton players are giving the sort of performance, that suggests that they wouldn't mind seeing the coach sacked.

Power making a mess of Carlton at the moment. If it continues, the repercussions at Carlton will be something to savour!

I’m going to wander over to the Carlton bigfooty board for a laugh.

I know they're only beating Carlton but Port are making our win last week look OK.

            Enjoy!
But don't stop watching the game - Carlton's performance is just as entertaining.
Channel 7 have put the camera on Voss countless times and he seems to be the only one on the bench without something to say.

I’m going to say this very carefully: I’m not directly comparing the two as Paul Kelly is my favourite ever footballer to watch and is a better all round footballer, but in terms of pure intent, speed at the contest and competitive mongrel, Zac Butters plays the same style. He’s great to watch.

Getting the coach sacked is something the Carlton playing group specialise in!

Couldn't imagine a more pathetic response to last weeks pathetic showing against Norf, but they even managed to top that! All those million dollar players in very poor form :-)

Always good to see 'big' Melbourne clubs going poorly and we're lucky to be seeing over two decades of Carlton and Essendon being irrelevent.

As for Melbourne media suggesting Port's Visentini, who was staionary, could be in trouble for having Saad run into him, well that's Vicbias at it's best.

Carlton is looking like a club without a soul- for a minute I felt sorry for them but no, it barely lasted a minute! I’m still smiling when I think how awful they’ve been lately but then recall our game against the Dees and Crows so I put it in perspective.

Yes, I really hope that Visentini doesn't get suspended. If he does, it would be a particularly absurd example, of the tribunal deciding that if a player gets concussed, then someone must be at fault somehow. Meanwhile, lots of more deliberately malicious acts go unpunished, due to no concussion occurring.

Scoring 60 points flattered Carlton in the end. First half was a full horror show. I had a giggle when the cameras showed Voss heading down the steps and Jack Riewoldt on Fox Footy said "maybe he's going home".

Glad it wasn't just me who saw Saad run straight into a stationary shoulder. I heard people say "bump" once or twice and found it very confusing.

Looks like Lynch should get a few weeks, for his punch to the head of Butts. Although, it's now being massaged into "a swinging arm" and you never really know what the tribunal might decide.
