    Swans chat Injury List

Decided to start this thread as our injury list is becoming frustrating with the long term's building up.

Errol, Braeden, Riak, King & Green (broken foot) won't be seen till sometime after the mid season bye.

Riak has hardly played any footy since we drafted him. Did his shoulder last year requiring surgery and then gets suspended for 5 weeks upon his return, missing remainder of the season.
He now requires surgery on his quad.

The good news is Heeney & Cootee are a TEST to return next week. Bowman, who was flying during the preseason down back and pressing to make his senior debut, is 2-3 weeks away.

Edit: Left out Max King who is also going to miss most of the season, if not all.

Yes, after reading that injury report, I did look at how long Andrew and Green had left on their contracts, because I could see them both playing hardly any VFL games this season, and then being delisted without playing any AFL games. Lucky for them, they're both signed until the end of 2027.

Handy that Heeney is almost certain to back for our next game, and it'll be good to get a look at Cootee and Bowman.

I thought that this was an interesting article, about fitness staff trying to adjust to the new rules, and if those new rules might be contributing to more injuries, by requiring players to do more running.

Saw an interview a week or so back where apparently the data showing the overall distances are down by about 10 percent, but the high speed running volumes are up by 20 percent. Pure explosion footy.

The latest instalment of the good news, bad news injury report. The good news is that Heeney should play against West Coast. While in the VFL, we should get our first look at Cootee. Bowman is also a reasonable chance of returning.

The bad news is that Adams has done his hamstring and will be out for 6-8 weeks. Unless he can produce some sort of miracle in the latter part of the season, you'd think that he'll be the first delisted at season's end. Bit of a shame, as he did provide some toughness at the contest in his first year with us, but he only played three AFL games last year and he possibly won't play any this year.

It seems to be mainly good news in this week's injury report. After being a late withdrawal against West Coast, it appears that Rosas just had calf tightness, rather than a strain, and he's listed as a test for the Suns game. While Melican isn't even mentioned. So, I'm assuming that him missing the last quarter or so, was just the sort of precaution that can be taken, when you're around 100 points in front, and that he's good to go. Noah Chamberlain is also listed as a test, after missing the last VFL game due to concussion.

So, no significant new injuries. Although the handful of injured players that we do have, are all quite long term.

Latest injury report. The good news is that there's been no new additions and Chamberlain is no longer on it. So you'd assume that he'll be playing VFL this week. However, the six players that are still on it are all long term, with the earliest possible return being Adams in four weeks.

Not really any new additions to the injury report this week, although Adams injured an already injured hamstring, so he'll be out longer than the previously stated 4 to 6 weeks. Errol is now listed as 3 months, rather than the 3 to 4 months. So, I suppose that's something. Bowman is not on the list, despite not playing the last VFL game with an unnamed injury. So, hopefully it was something minor and he's already recovered.

Or was Bowman held over from the VFL Team as the emergency for the senior team in the case of a last minute injury. I don’t know, I am just speculating

Heeney will not play against the Bulldogs due to calf tightness.

It said he was injured in last week's team list. So they possibly had it right. Haven't heard anything else either way.

Ugghh, McCartin out for 2-3 weeks with a ligament strain and Hetherton out for most of the season with a lumbar stress fracture.

What a blow, but all teams have them and we do have Hamling and Melican in the 2s none can do what McCartin can but could enough to cover (or could Snell be a shock inclusion)

Wouldn't mind Snell getting a chance, as he's playing well, but I suspect they'll go for experience.
