I have a close mate who is a long suffering Saints fan and i actually don't mind if they do win a flag just for him. Get to experience the euphoria of the breakthrough flag as we did in 05.

He is so frustrated how the Saints have stuffed up their drafting & recruiting so badly over the decades. He doesn't mind the risk the club has now taken in paying big overs for players, even if it ends up falling flat on its face, believing they had to try something with the club going nowhere (again).

This is where point no. 3 comes in. I didn't expect him to put Brisbane & GC's recent Academy haul into the frame (even with the matching of junk picks which has now been tightened). He'd taken the candy sold by Ross and the Melb Media, which i then had to educate him how the acadamies actually worked in non AFL markets.

Made point they are entirely different to the F/S system, which have been unfairly bracketed together. The Saints have been unlucky in this area, which has further fuelled their own self made frustrations.
