Team List Team Selection: R9 v North @ Marvel Sat 1:15pm

Grundy is playing sore and will soon need a rest or at least a proper 2nd ruck chopout, but it won't be this week against Xerri who was huge against the Cats last game.

We now begin another 2 x 6 day breaks and have a bye in R15.
We play Pies at home in R10 and then Cats away in R11 who have no decent rucks, which is when i think he'll most likely be rested for Ladhams.

Would love to play a 2nd ruck (Ladhams) but it would disrupt current team balance with all the 3 tall fowards (Charlie, Amartey and Logan) playing well together and providing headaches for the opposition to matchup.

    For mine just one change:
    Out: Cootee
    IN: Cunningham or Cleary

Is Wayne Carey getting an invite? Can you imagine managing the seating arrangements.

Well, let's hope we completely ruin their celebration like we did with the Poodles a few weeks ago!

        GO BLOODS!

Pretty ironically getting 2 out of the 3 teams having a reunion and not the team our coach played for

I’d be keeping a sneaky eye on Heeney. He mentioned in his post game interview his ankle got jammed up in a tackle, which sent shivers through me given his history. Hopefully just a passing moment.

I wonder how much of a genuine dilemma it is for them? On the one hand, many people would say that that he has to be invited, because North would probably never had won the premiership without him. On the other hand, does the club and the AFL really want to have anything to do with such a morally bankrupt individual; with a long alleged history of domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, cheating on partners, groping bystanders and assaulting police? I mean, if a person who wasn't a famous footballer and who had a rap sheet like that, applied for a job cleaning the toilets at Marvel, then almost certainly the AFL wouldn't hire him. But because of his one-time talents on the football field, then there's a good chance that he'll get to be lauded in Marvel's best function room.

Perhaps they can reach some sort of compromise? Yes, he can attend, but only if he's gagged, trussed in a straight jacket, strapped to a trolley and wheeled around, Hannibal Lector style.

On Fox tonight, Daniel Hoyne from Champion Data said that teams that win an inside 50 contest score 63% of the time. He says the number one player in the AFL by a long way in this area is Charlie Curnow. He also said that if Charlie was converting at the AFL average he would be leading the league goal kicking.

                    Ending that would be good.

I'm more concerned at ending the following: 1935, 1936, 1945, 1996, 2014, 2016, 2024. Winning minor premiership, losing Grand Final.

                    Let's end both this year.

I think two things can be true: one - Charlie sometimes get stuck wrestling with his opponent, rather than seeking earlier separation, and his kicking has been a little off; and two - what he's done to transform the structure and impact of our forward line and ability to break even contests has been remarkable. People will forever argue about the price we paid for him, but he's been a huge addition and to judge him exclusively on bags of goals misses the point.

Yep. Lachie McKirdy saying Charlie has abdominal strain and Serong hamstring. Apparently Cox said both are on minor side.

                          Hopefully we're just being careful.

Good chance to try the two ruck theory with Ladhams, though they may choose McLean as someone to be plonked in the square.

                          Now screaming danger game.

Agree...This looks like a danger game, assuming LDU plays. If he is out, North will struggle, IMO.

My guess, Cox will go the obvious...

                            OUT : Curnow, Serong

                            IN : Ladhams, Cleary

You just never know how a season will pan out. Injuries seem to come out of no where. Serong is a genuine loss. I think McLean will come in as a logical replacement as a forward and ruck. Not sure who comes in for Serong. Maybe Billy C to the wing.
