The round should start with a hard fought game between Brisbane and Geelong. I was going to say a quality game, but it's been wet up here with intermittent squally rain, so that will probably make attractive ball movement a whole lot more difficult, but it should still be worth a watch. Hopefully we'll see a Brisbane win. Although, with two premiership wins and their luck with father/sons, I am starting to get a little bit sick of them, but nowhere near enough to make me wish for a Geelong victory.
The Friday night line up has me wondering if two Friday games is a tactic by the AFL, to annoy free to air watchers so much, that they'll snap and subscribe to Kayo. Like, I first looked at it and thought, "you beauty, Swans v Collingwood is bound to be on 7". But no, I then noticed that Gold Coast was playing in the other game, therefore, that will be the free to air game up here. Ggrrr!
Perhaps the best Saturday game will Melbourne v Hawthorn. Melbourne have been the surprise packets of the season, so far. I think most people looked at the players that they lost and then expected them to slump into an extended rebuilding phase, but instead, they've played some attractive football, taken a few scalps and will probably make at least the wildcard finals. Whereas Hawthorn made an excellent start, but now a few bolts appear to be falling off the wheels. Like, the wheels aren't falling off, but with a few injuries and results not quite going their way, the might be a little bit vulnerable.
People will also be interested to see how Carlton go, after they finally parted ways with Voss. Will it seem like the players have had a weight lifted from their shoulders and they'll start winning games? Or will it just be confirmed that it isn't a very good list, that isn't capable of winning too many games? Perhaps the person most hoping that they won't be revitalised under a new coach will be Brad Scott?
And finally, being Indigenous Round, there is another batch of jerseys to admire, some of which are wonderful works of art.
