Apart from the @@@@witt part, I totally agree blind Freddy can see having one decent ruck doesn’t work on there own (look at the Collingwood game, the loss of Stein changed the game without that injury we wouldn’t have won) Grundy/Ladhams for me BUT happy if it’s Grundy/Mclean

Glad they are blooding some youth< Kyle is interesting having watched all season in the 2s he looks like a mile off it - but he is rated highly so guess the best way to learn often is to be thrown in the deep end.
Would be nice if we use a 2 ruck system from here on in, watching how effective Geelong was using 4 guys v Grundy to curb his influence I think it’s worth a look. Hanily is the only confusing player in the team for me.

Cox was interviewed this week, in which injuries were discussed: Changes loom at Swans as injuries start to bite (afl.com.au).

An interesting quotation from the article that everyone should note: "When questioned about managing Brodie Grundy’s workload after a demanding game against Geelong, Cox said that while mid-season soreness is common across the competition, Grundy is feeling good and preparing to play against the Tigers.

Should Grundy require a rest at some stage, Cox expressed full confidence in VFL ruck Peter Ladhams to step up, adding there's a possibility of playing both rucks in the same side at some stage."

So Cox may choose to play both Grundy and Ladhams at some point. I think the recall of McLean may be a prelude to this.

So we're trialling two rucks without Grundy, which is effectively what has happened with McLean's inclusion.

Also, I didn't appreciate Kyle had only been in the Academy for 18 months. Says a lot about his trajectory and potential.

Harry Kyle is set to make his AFL debut Saturday against Richmond, and former QBE Sydney Swans Academy coach, and current AFLW senior coach, Colin O'RIordan, was influential in his stunning rise in recent months.

We're second from top with a few injuries and it's all doom and gloom. Now I know why my visits to RWO are few and far between.
Sydney has fewer players injured than Richmond, our opponents this week. The depth of the squad is pretty good considering the much-improved VFL performance. I doubt we'll maul Richmond by over 100 points, but banking a decent win would be good.

Doesn't strike me a balanced team losing two small forwards and replacing them a tall forward and back pocket.
Pleased to see Kyle get a game.
Richmond is so banged up with injuries at the moment that we can get away with not making strict like for like substitutions. Richmond's team selection at the moment is all players who are fit, then take a few out.

Four tall forwards means the forwards are a part of the rotations, especially McLean/Ladhams.

I hope Kyle goes well in his first game.

I received a True Bloods facebook post that Callum Mills is now in doubt for this week after leaving training early this morning, moving gingerly.

I suspect Harry Cunningham will be the replacement if Mills doesn't come up, but good opportunity to also blood in Snell.

    Interesting Selection tonight!

    And, it's Kyle

The 18-year-old grew up playing rugby and basketball before landing at the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in the middle of 2024.
