    Passengers without 2005 credits

    Mathews - career over
Crouch - too slow (he was 5 metres behind all night last night)
Kirk - not giving us much at all atm (though probably has some credit left)
Ted - how he got this far with no 2005 credits is starting to puzzle me. He needs a season ending injury while he still has some trade value
Nog - As much as I like Noggy he has stopped improving. The potential of a Schmidt, Vogels, Willoughby or even Spriggs has to have more value that what he is giving us over 4 qtrs atm
Chambers - has started '06 with the same number of credits as Doyle and has earnt the same so far this season and must make way for the donkey for the 3 fit weeks he has in him

I cringed when he wobbled that ugly kick off his wrong boot.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

      Mathews - gone
Crouch - really struggling, needs a rest
Ablett - really not progressing, delivers little offensively
      Richards - gives very little
      Chambers - pretty much ineffective

Matthews is not up to it. We're a victim of such a poor reserves level, that it wont do him any good back there either.

Crouch is the one that @@@@s me. Not the bloke, because except for one small flaw he's a great person and player who when fully fit is an incredible asset to our team. Its just that he has this stupid "most consecutive games" thing going, which means he front up, and gets selected, when only 50% fit, and when his value to the team is bordering on negative. He hurt us at the start of 2005, and he's hurting us again at the moment.
            He's untouchable, but shouldnt be.

I think most of those players mentioned above have been ok this season. I mean they havent stared by any stretch of the imagination but they have been ok. Last nite the ball was going so fast into the pies forwardline there was not much the defenders could do. We need to win the clearances and move the ball quickly up the middle to the likes of Hall and O'loughlin to actually give them a chance one out. We played the wings alont last nite and moved the ball extremely slow giving the forwards no chance at all. Thats just my opinion but considering we played so badly loosing to the third team on the ladder by only 2 goals we were extremely lucky.

That's why I mention Mathews, Kirk, Crouch and Ablett.

I find it interesting that only one person has named Jolly as a disappointment. (And in another thread which I've already forgotten - there are so many).

Statistically the only area he has improved this year compared to last seems to be hitouts, as would be expected given a greater game time. Due to my end of the month slow internet I can't do any real research, but I'm sure the stats would agree. Now considering he is on the ground a majority of the time and has become our #1 ruckman, why isn't he playing like it? He played well in the finals last year and I felt quite optimistic about his future as our #1 ruckman. Why isn't he kicking goals and being useful?

I really feel that Jolly isn't pulling his weight. And when Jolly isn't pulling his weight, Chambers is played. Chambers who, incidentally, has improved out of sight compared to his 2005 average statistics (from my quick comparisons). Although he played less in 2005, this says one thing to me: Jolly is going backwards. Chambers is going forwards. Are they going to meet in the middle and become two very average ruckmen?

Is Jolly injured? Bring in Shaw! And Doyle if he EVER gets fit.

I agree on Jolly's around-the-ground work. Very disappointing.

I think Jols is carrying an injury isn't he?
But apparently so is Russel Robertson and he seems to be playing through it fine.

Doyle seemed fit and playing fine on the weekend.
                      Doyle in?.. or too soon?

Yeah everyone says Jolly is injured.

I reckon too soon for Doyle ... as I mentioned elsewhere he nearly did a hammy 5 minutes into the reserves game and spent a lot of the first quarter walking on the boundary and riding the bike. I'm guessing he'll need a few more weeks.

Jolly is so slow to decide what to when he gets the ball, it is very frustrating.

There are three words that describe Stephen Doyle - potential, potential and potential. I'm tiring of the promise that his name brings to the list. If he is our 'saviour' ruckman then we really are in strife. It's time to bite the bullet and blood Earl Shaw. The current two are a pair of billy-goats.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

                              That would be me.

I have been on his case since Round 1 and apart from the hit out fuss after the North game, Jols has been ho hum in all areas but particularly coasting outside of the stoppages.

When you consider the output from:

Cox (Seaby looks more likely than our boys)
Biglands (old Clarke has more spark)
Everitt (even Campbell has time and style going for him)
White (knows how to sink a team, just ask Sydney)
Lade (Brogan is their second stringer for heaven's sake!)

All of those blokes give their team height advantage at vital points of the game (outside of stoppages) and what have we got from Jolly and Chambers in 2006.

On Saturday night, Nathan Buckley outsmarted both of our ruckmen to directly set up goals from centre clearances.

Sorry to say, but Everitt for Jolly would have been the better option!
