    Contrite Davis desperate to return

Article in paper re Davis keen to return.
Not happy with comments from Roos, Longmire and team members.
Especially in regards to those members of team who were out to early hours of the morning before Adelaide game - weren't they breaking team rules. Played abismally and got away with it. They should be taking a fall too. Fair is fair - look inside the club further coaches and take action - because those players let the team down and the fans - money they get should be able to keep that team rule.

Team bonding out of order. Meant a loss and someone who wasn't team bonding like Davis is wearing the blame for not being a team member?????

No one knows who they were - only told to look at tape of Adelaide game and see who wasn't playing like they normally do.

Particularly down performances against Adelaide included O'Keefe, Hall, J Bolton, Buchanan, and Kirk.

Unless he's an alcoholic, I don't think Kirk's form against Adelaide was hangover related.

Pretty sure it is a 2 year contract, not a 1 year contract (unless the performance components were only for the first year, which would be odd). Nice to see the media chase him at home even though they know talking to the media appeared to make matters worse for him 2 weeks ago... I am pleased to see he has given her pretty much jack, just some quick, short party-line style quips that she has then tried to use to build an article around. Slow news day or is Caroline that far behind the times and missed the boat a fortnight ago?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Which came from a one-liner in a newspaper column.

Forgive me if I don't consider that hard and fast evidence.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Maybe not hard and fast evidence - but column has been true in comments lately. Some players are definitely not playing well - so question could be answered.

I would imagine it's probably more likely to be true given that players in Sydney possibly think it's easier to get away with extra-curricula activities given the anonymity factor. In Melbourne there's always someone who'll recognise a footballer whether it be a pub, nightclub or simply loitering in the streets. I'm almost certain Davis signed a 2 year contract as well ; wouldn't be the first time Caro has not let the facts ruin a better story. Do agree though about the post-match celebrations after the Geelong match, from memory only MOL went to Davis while the rest of the team bonded apart. I must admit this surprised me as even if he's unpopular within the group he still did something that very few players are capable of in their careers. I did hear an interview before last Saturday night's game and apparently the revisionist theories are that it was mainly the team which allowed him to kick the goals. Now as much as the team virtues should be highlighted, I think credit should be given where it's due. A couple of those snaps would not be attained by most players on the list.

While the intangibles such as massages, recovery are important and part of team structure and team performance, I still wonder why a heavier premium is not put on actually hitting targets.

Working hard in matches and training should also be important, but what about the players who do this and still cost the team dearly in terms of their skills and decision-making shortcomings?
