Barry Hall - an 'average' performance

The commentators noted at the start of the game that Hall averages 18 possessions, 11 marks and 5 goals against the Bombers since he arrived in Sydney.

Tonight he racked up 18 possessions, 12 marks and 6 goals. So OK - my title is harsh. He was marginally above average.

Remarkable consistency against one team though.

Pretty remarkable when you consider that they've had Fletcher in the team for most of those games. I guess Sheedy's reluctance to play Fletcher on the best opposition forward is partly to blame though.

            I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

I thought he was very good, but I actually think he could have done better given he had plenty of supply and he is massively bigger than Solomon.

He claps like a seal when going for a mark instead of getting his hands into position earlier. I reckon this is a big contributor to him missing a lot of grabs.

Maybe he should get his money back from laser eye surgeon.

He's never been a good overhead mark. I always thought it was technique for this exact reason you raise. With his eye thing I thought maybe it was just that. Seems to be both.

Very good point you make. It's in our favour that Sheedy has his hair brained ideas for match ups. Statistics speak for themselves.

What is with Fletcher not palying on Hall? Fletcher is one of the best backs in the comp, seems a waste not to play him on Hall.

I think it's because Fletcher likes playing at FB and Hall often plays out at CHF.
