Kelly the best I've played on: Ricciuto

Retiring Adelaide captain Mark Ricciuto has named Paul Kelly as the only player he didn't think he could beat.
A big wrap from one of the greats of the game.

"I've probably only been toweled up really badly once," 2003 Brownlow medal winner Ricciuto said.

"That was by Paul Kelly at the SCG in a half of footy. That's the only time I've ever thought I couldn't beat someone.

"I've obviously been beaten a few other times, but he's probably the best player in a half that I've stood."
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

They should add that to Kel's entry in the Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to the Roo on a great career. he is the sort of player I would have loved to have seen in Red and white...still we can't have them all. A true champion who, I hope, enjoys his retirement.

              Great career from Roo.

I read in the Herald Sun about 2 or 3 weeks ago that Kel was making a comeback to local footy.

              Anyone hear anything about this?

At least he won't have to ask for his number back.

                  Roo on Kelly

Mark Ricciuto said at his press conference that Paul Kelly was the opponent he thought he couldn't beat.
It was a game in the mid 90s and Kel was at the peak of his powers.

That is a huge compliment coming from a competitor like Roo.

Ned had the great ability to break the lines , if only he had better skills he would have won another charlie.

                        What's this 'Ned' garbage.

Most are laughing at you, not with you, when you insist on making up your own nickname for Eski, but let's not invent a name for one of the greatest players to ever pull on the red and white.

I read recently that he had re-registered with theWagga Tigers & was lining up with their ressies. Given the way our boys are going down I reckon that the recruiters might be sent down for a look.
