    Our Next International Rookie

    Could be a Canadian.

ps Fifty two cans between 4 blokes on a long road trip. What a piss poor effort. Those blokes should be ashamed of themselves. Our international reputation will soon be in tatters.

Great article, the writer while not knowing the game actually took some time to research the topic and put a good piece together.

At 6 foot 3 and 17 he certainly has the size to have AFL teams interested in having a look at him.

Could be the Canadian Plugger we are looking for!

PS. Love the comment about the amount of cans they had on the road trip...that is pretty disgraceful...and I love the fact that a retired cop let them do that in his car!

What an amazing story I really hope he does become a part of our starting 22 in the next few years, it would be inspiring!

Here at the Gosford Tigers JUnior AFL, we hosted a 14yr old lad from Canada for about 6 weeks this year. WE had approval from the AFL to play him and he went very well and played a major contribution to some wins.

I believe he's looking back to coming back in the future as his parents have a close family friend living here on the Central Coast.

That is possibly the best written footy story I've read all year!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Probably has slightly less of a chance than an Australian trying to make the NHL. Good luck to him though!

Reminds me of that 'freak' athlete Essendon had from Africa a few years ago...

Obviously it remains to be seen whether he is a decent athlete or not, but the big difference between this kid and any other international rookies (or potential rookies like the kid from Africa) is that he has apparently been kicking a football for the past 5 years.

No reason to think he is any better than someone running around in the Sydney AFL comp, but being 6'3" helps his cause.

Just playing footy doesn't mean he will be great, but it is a little different. I think with the African kid, as an example, he couldn't really kick a footy and was rake thin when he came over.
