      What they need is simple:

      Get with the flamin' times and play aggressive direct footy and not the old tempo style crap which is now ancient history. Take a leaf out of collingwood's book and make excellent players out of youngsters and get some speed of half back to get the ball going forward quickly like geelong and port did so well.

      * 1-2 good midfielders
      * a tall strong defender

      oh and get gary jnr, jonny brown, juddy and maybe another ruckman better than everitt

      dump/trade crouch, matthews, barry, j bolton and a couple of others

          An outside midfielder who can break tackles and hits a leading player or splits the middle on a regular basis. MOst of our midfielders cant kick under pressure and hit a target to save themselves.

If you are going to give away a free, make it worthwhile; a free for an elbow to the head is a better result than a pinky on the shoulder. Preferably get him on the lead, marking on the chest around 50 and motoring up the wing if he is being caned. His 2005 form.

            3. Goodes firing for a full season. The "knock me down, I get up", no brain farts Goodes. His 2003 form.

            4. Midfield shakeup. -taggers +ball users. Maybe recruit a midfielder of the Williams or Schwass standard (or release Malceski or Kennelly).

            5. Nick Davis cut some slack to lair a bit.

            6. Jolly and Spida to stay injury free. Get Donkey firing or @@@@ him off.

            And we could finish top 4 and have a crack.

            Sweet daydreams.
            I was gonna say virtually the same stuff. Spot on. Our list is still plenty good enough. We just gotta inject some pace into the midfield and get that back 6 settled.

            We're good enough to go around again, no worries. Have faith.

                  I don't recall losing two games in any of those seasons. GF by 119....cheese and chalk.

                  Geelong are a far better team. Play with a similar ethos...but much better cattle.

                      I dont think Geelong are a far better team,they have only 1 just like us next year they will be the hunted lets see how they handle that.Considering the cattle we have we play very well as a TEAM.

                            Dump / trade : Mathews, MCVEIGH, Bevan. And possibly J Bolton or Fosdyke or Schneider.
                            Should retire. Leaper, Crouch
                            Buy some skill.
                            Buy some pace.
                            Play either Malceski or Tiger in midfield...or both, ie one on either wing.
                            Play on as much as possible.
                            Play more direct.
                            etc etc..
                            Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

                                What the Swans need to do

                                Find a fast midfielder that can kick long.

                                A big defender, or push spia back instead of going forward after the tap.

                                Change the game plan to kick long to what, on paper, is one of the best forward lines in the business.

                                Stop trying to pin point a forward, it allows the opposition too much time to flood back.

                                Still a great side that needs tweeking with a few new faces.

                                Cheers
