    Carlton's future midfield

Just thought I'd have a look at carlton's followers/centres in the next few years if it all works out for them trading and drafting wise this year. If Kreuzer and Gibbs justify their number 1 pick ranking (murphy has already shown he is going to be brilliant), then we might be seeing another brisbane midfield of 2001-2004 or west coast of 2004-07.

Ruckman: Matthew Kreuzer (No #1 Draft Pick)
Ruck Rover: Chris Judd (not a bad player)
Rover: Marc Murphy (No #1 Draft Pick)
Centre: Bryce Gibbs (No #1 Draft Pick)

They'll need a good midfield because they have no defence.

Yes, but how are they going to retain them when they start to emerge as elite players in the next 2-3 years? Judd has locked Carlton into a financial quagmire on TPP. Good luck at retaining Gibbs before Adelaide swoop, or paying Kreuzer and Murphy anything decent down the track. Other clubs will be in a position to offer them far more lucarative deals than Carlton.

We'll take Gibbs and give them Mathews and McVeigh and we will give them pick#26.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

They took Saddo, so you never know.

The jury is still out on Gibbs. Seems to back out a lot of contests.

Not from the games that I watched (all of them). General concencus down there is he will be better than all the young recruits of late that they have picked up. Remember that he could have gone another year in the 18's as he was bottom aged for the draft. Another thing to take into account was Pagans perchant for playing kids out of position - he would play them in the backline to teach them the defensive side of the game - Gibbs should have been allowed to sit on the HFF.

That was Steven Milne coming towards him by the way.

Haha, I remember that. Give him time and he might take on Milne some day.
