"I think from our point of view where the game is heading, speed and run and ball use is a really important part of it, and we got three boys who are all good runners - Veszpremi is very, very quick at 2.91 seconds [over 20 metres], and Meredith is sub 3s - and they are all very good ball users. Those are the things we were looking at going into the draft and that's why we got the boys we did."
Does anyone else thhink it strange that this conversion on the Road to Damascus by Roosy in favour of speed and run has come at a time when the poster boys for this style of footy, the Dogs, are desperately searching for hard inside types?

Maybe there's a happy medium out there...

Meredith and Veszpremi don't sound like your Sam Powers or Jordan McMahons of this world though. They don't read like prototype Bulldogs outside runners. They sound more like players happy to play in the clinches and win their own ball but with a tad more pace than Bolton, Kirk, Schmidt et al.

Tough to be both tho isn't it, unless you're Judd? If that's what we've unearthed then that's cracking - if it's a less happy compromise then that's less cracking.

There are plenty of players able to win their fair share of ball but also use it OK who still aren't in Judd's league. If either one of them turned into another Monty, for example, I wouldn't be upset.
