    Newish;
    Barlow- continues to impress, he can really motor around the field.
    Moore - Starting to look at home, has excellent footy instincts.
    Grundy - OK today, but his lack of speed is a concern

    New ;
    Jack - Looks great, he's fast and hard at it, seems to rellish the contest.
    Bird - Knows how to find the footy, a little off the pace but that will come.
    Mattner - Another lively performance, he definately looks a good pick up.
    Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

    Pretty much agree with that assessment, although I would give Grundy a better rating than just "OK". He was good today. But yes, his lack of speed is worrying. It will prevent him from ever being a really good player, even though he is one of the best kicks and marks in our side.
    Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

        This may be connected to being off the pace, but his decision making for disposal so far has not been great

          Bird at the moment is being given flying hours until Fossie and Schmidt get back. He's clearly not up to it at the moment but thats OK because of his potential and the policy of giving real game time to the future stars.

            grundy- cant see much more improvement in him to be honest, i doubt he can make it at this level.

            moore- has a lot of potential, needs to build up confidence, but should have a spot for a while yet.

            barlow- has the most hype around him due to awesome debut last year, but a could develop into a gun, very mobil for his height. Probably needs to find his position in the team.

            jack- excellent endevour, would like to see him get more time on the ball is going to be a key player this decade

            bird- is on the right path to being a very very good player, can get caught out a little, but its his first year, probably done a lot more than most swans have in their first year since 2003.

            mattner- would be one of the first 10 or so picked at the moment, has the occasional brain fade but a good player.

              Jack - was excellent, don't know why he wasn't named in the best in the SMH
              Moore - Schneider who? with Moore we get more. (sorry that was pretty bad )
              Barlow - moved well, kicked well. He is right up to speed with the seniors.
              Bird - had a few bad passes that put team mates under pressure, but he really didn't look out of place
              Mattner - I don't think he was that good. His clangers stood out a lot more than his good stuff. Maybe needs a little more time to settle into the team.

              IMO it was the Young Bloods that kept us in the game early and put the Power under pressure. Sure Bazza had a good game but he really only cut loose after we were well in front.
              Ablett had a great 100th.

                Spot on Ernie Koala !!
                The great thing is that kids are playing, guys at work today saying "some of your young kids look alright." I havent heard that in years !!
                Birdy is my interesting one. Reminds me so much of Paul Kelly its not funny.When Kel started he was ordinary with his disposal though knew how to find it. The Finger is lacking penetration with his kicking and a little slow with his decision making ,though it will come.Would rather see him learn the craft with the big boys than in Canberra unless someone else warrants the spot.
                Cheese was really impressive yesterday and Jarred Moore finally looks comfortable.I didnt rate Moorey at all , though in these 2 games I can see why some people having been rating him . His decision making & awareness on what is around him is fantastic . I think Jarred is really appreciating the ground time in the ones so far.
                Gotta love Keiran Jacks intensity at the contest and ball.

                      I think his decision making has been absolutely fine. He is picking the right options.

                      However, his kicks are just not quite hitting their marks at the moment .. too short, too long.. that has got to do with the speed of the game.

                      He will catch on in a couple of weeks I reckon...

                        Barlow- Could really be something. Moves very well, excellent skills. Reminds me a little bit of Dale Thomas from Collingwood.

                        Moore - A star. He is Buchanan with better skills

                        Grundy - Speed could be an issue, but I think his footy smarts in time could over-come that. He is being setup for a forward role by learning in defense. Has some of the best footskills and marking ability in the club IMO.

                        New ;
                        Jack - Will make it, I have no doubt. Fantastic skills, hard at it and great awareness.

                        Bird - Reads the play really well. As I said his options are fine, it is just his measure of the kick that is off. It will come.

                        Mattner - Much better this game. I was not sure about him round one, but better this time. I think he needs to give it more a ROOST though

                          There was one moment in the game where I held my breath as Bird kicked it back to another player near our D50, with an opposition player lurking close by. Luckily the ball just eclipsed the opposition player. It was a phase in the game where he was still rather shaky, but as the game developed looked more and more confident.

                          Btw, would he not be better suited in the centre?

                            Just on Grundy, I will be the first to admit that in the past (and very recent past, as well), I have written him off as a backup utility at best. A good Canberra player. But I was thinking, weren't some of the same criticisms, currently being levelled at Grundy, being levelled at O'Keefe about 5 or 6 years ago? Now, I don't remember much of that time, as I was twelve and only just beginning to follow the Swans with any sort of seriousness, but wasn't O'Keefe considered a promising player with an excellent mark and kick, but who was just too damn slow and couldn't find enough of the ball? Now look at him. Probably our second best player, after Kirk. He worked hard, and developed excellent stamina, which somewhat cancelled out his lack of speed. Is there any reason Reg couldn't do something similar? He also is too slow and doesn't find enough of the ball, but if he can work really hard on his stamina, and maybe work on his running technique a bit to try to squeeze out an extra yard of pace, perhaps he could cross that threshold that O'Keefe crossed in 2004, and become a vital cog in our structure across half forward. Thoughts?

                              The rest of your post was pretty accurate, but Kirk and O'Keefe our best two players? FWIW I think Grundy's marking and kicking abilities are awesome, he has a good footy brain but he just needs another yard of pace.
