    Nice Port Adelaide Cheer Squad

I know that as opposing Swans fans to visiting Cheer Squads, it is rare to experience a moment of positive contact. Last Sunday afternoon, after the Swans had smashed Port, was a rare moment of such a positive contact with a visiting Cheer Squad.

I happen to be in Adelaide on business from next Sunday afternoon. To date I have found it impossible to get a ticket to the South Australian Showdown, set for this Sunday (Round 3).

At the start of kick to kick and in front of the Messenger Stand on the boundary, (where the visiting Cheer Squad usually sit at the SCG), I sought the assistance of some Port (Cheer Squad) fans. They were very helpful, as well as friendly. They were able to point me to the right avenue to get a ticket .Consequently, I was able to obtain a SA Showdown ticket yesterday (Monday).

Thanks Port cheer squad. Not only were you gracious in defeat, you were also very helpful.

I dont believe this. It's Port propaganda. There is no such thing as a nice Port supporter. Anyone from Adelaide who isnt a Port supporter knows that.

I sussed out Port's Cheer Squad at the SCG with another fellow Swans CS member. They seemed quite civilised actually, but then again I didn't stay too long just in case I'd catch cooties.

Port Cheer Squad/Supporters/Outer Armny have a pretty good relationship with Swans supporters to be honest. I'm very good mates with Paralowie Power & know a lot of Port supporters as a result.

They know that when they come to Sydney they will have people who'll be helpful rather than obnoxious to deal with. And are equally friendly in return. They even pole our banners for us so that we don't have to worry about it & can enjoy our trips away all the more.

Port supporters can be rather @@@@@ly on the whole. Some can be downright neanderthal (ie the ones after the final who were waiting for us up the back at the bar yelling at us that we eat our own snot! ). But the Port Cheer Squad are actually excellent on the whole. The way they reacted after the final in 2003 will stay with me. They were so upset yet were so graceful & courtious to us. It was awesome & made the day all the more special to be honest.

In typical South Australian fashion I'm sure they keyed every car in the car park on the way out but glad you got your ticket...
