    Round 8 - Essendon

I can't stand Essendon. Probably because over the years, the performance of South Melbourne/Sydney against the Bombers makes for grim reading.

South's performance against Essendon up until 1945 was competitive enough - 47 wins, 52 losses. But then the wheels fell off big time - between 1946-1981, the club recorded only 13 wins and 51 losses. Swan supporters must have dreaded matches against the Bombers no matter where they were held - at Albert Park, the club managed 9 wins from 31 games, and only 3 from 29 at Windy Hill. Toss in a single win at Waverley, and that was the story of South Melbourne versus Essendon after the war.

Our record against them has improved only marginally since coming to Sydney - 17 wins, 1 draw, 25 losses. Let's hope we can add another win on Sunday.

I've gone for 40 or more.

I'm always loathe to tip the swans by large margins, but if we can't beat the bombers by a comfortable margin then our season really will be in the balance.

Should win in typical Swans style.... 12 goals to 2

I too have gone the 40+ margin, somethig like 18.23 to 14.6! Actually I would like to see 18.8 to 12.8. That would be good with Lloyd contributing 1.8.

The Swans are due for a win after a disappointing performance against the Bulldogs. Essendon aren't looking too flash with White Knight as their coach and several injuries to key players.

Hopefully McLaren won't umpire the game and there's no Hird to bribe him for a win.

There should be a good crowd at ANZ for what I think many would call revenge after the umps and extra padding gave the win to the Bombers but we should be too strong for them this time around.

Swans by 45 and Matthew Lloyd to make the Australian Olympic Diving Team.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

We should win by at least 40 points. If we don't, there's something wrong.

A shellacking of the highest order is required. I will settle for nothing less.

Realistically, there should of been an option for 10 goals or more.

Agree, we should be able to kick 10 goals this week.

We'd have to play badly to not win by 40+.

We not only should win by more that 40, we must win by more than 40.

Our last month has been shi-ite. In both the North and Dogs games we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Time to get back on track and instill some confidence in the supporters.

Based on this week's poll, we are very confident about tomorrow - maybe a bit too overconfident? If it's going to be wet, and the ground is slippery, I just hope Malceski's knee holds up.
