Which player leaving was your biggest kick in the guts?

As I mentioned in the best kick thread I think John Pitura hurt the most. Seeing Greg Williams shoot through to Carlton was also a tad disappointing.

DRJ, Evans and Williams to Carlton.

couldnt blame rhys jones , bernie evans , greg smith , foschini ,the morwoods for leaving , all melbourne lads who didnt want to relocate. just made the first few years in sydney very hard on the field , losing all that talent
but after later when williams went to carlton and mitchell to the pies, that hurt.

When "Teaser" went to Collingwood. Still my saddest memory of following the Swans.

With the benefit of hightsight, the loss of Anthony Rocca and Paul Licuria to Collingwood proved to be unfortunate.

Also, although the Shannon Grant/Wayne Schwass transfer proved OK in the short term, long term North Melbourne clearly got the better deal. Schwass has been retired for 6 years now, Grant keeps on keeping on.

But for John Pitura we picked up Teasdale ( a Brownlow medallist), Whale Roberts (who almost won a Brownlow, only played 15 games and was only 3 votes behind) and Francis Jackson, a more than serviceable CHB. Not a bad deal

For me the players that I hated to see leave were

                        Paul Hawke to Collingwood
                        Peter Bedford - to Carlton
                        Bernie Evans - to Carlton
                        Danihers - to Essendon

Never missed Big Anthony, Licuria I would've liked to keep, but I feel regret every time I watch the Kangas.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                            Bangers Mitchell.

2 years later he was trundling around for Carlton reserves. I really gave it to him after the way he left & the fact he started slagging out the club at a time when we were trying to do our best in horrific circumstances. He totally lost it. Was mouthing off for ages. Had to get dragged. So what I was saying obvious hitting a nerve.

Was very unhappy Williams left. I hear he actually invested money in the club himself to keep it alive & may well have stayed had it been in a better financial position. The fact that Elliott & Carlton were waiting like vultures made the departure even more unpalatable.

I'm with GoSwannie on that one Teaser to the pies broke my little heart.

Rhys Jones was a body blow too.

Nice to see that no one really seems to be missing Schneider and Dempster any more though
