    Boycotts hit the Footy Show

Footy Shows days, in it's current form, must be numbered - personally I will be happy, there is a lack of focus on the game, the jokes are old and stale, the people the same.

Sammy crossed the line with the Caro manikin skit IMO - unsurprising that he can't accept that he did in fact offend many women associated with the game. Maybe this will pressure Ch9 into doing something proactive in bringing the show into the 21st Century. I know many will want me to wash my mouth out but it was a far superior program with Eddie.

ANZ has directed its Channel Nine advertising away from the top-rating show in protest at its attitude towards women.

    Any publicity....

I don't think they have a bad attitude towards women.
It's all just a big joke.
Those who watch it understand and expect that.

The problem I have with the carry on with the Caro skit is that they hang it on everyone equally. They are always bagging Gary Lyon, Jason Dunstall, Molly Meldrum, and even Sam himself amongst many others.

Caro was "offended" by what was done. Given the crap she has spouted about TFS and Eddie in particluar over the years, I'm not surpeised that they really got stuck into her. It was going to happen eventually. The laughable part IMO is that she then went off about being targeted by the show, if you liike, playing the "innocent victim". My advice to Caro is, "If you want to hand it out to others, be prepared to cop it back, otherwise shut up."

        Caro should HTFU.
She's a sport's reporter (and not a very good one at that).
She's lucky she doesn't cop it more.

        Go the footy show!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

When you have have offended someone, it shouldn't matter whether you agree or understand, the very fact that you have should be enough to make you step back and say "ok - my intention wasn't to offend you and if I have done that then I apologise."
I've been pulled up on this board by GS14 for using terminology that may have offended people on the board - what's the difference? It didn't matter to me whether I found it offensive it mattered that it did offend someone and I removed the offending post immediately and we all moved on.
What's interesting is that Caro has not carried this on, it is some very senior women involved in the AFL (the letter to the AFL), and now a major corporation and their decision to be associated with the show.
I personally am stretched to think of an example in Caro's journalism that in any way equates to the skit Sam did on the show.

LOL, funniest thing I've heard today.

She's a gossip columnist, writing about things nobody gives a stuff about like the North Melbourne board members.

She knows SFA about footy. I'm not being sarcastic either.

I think that the AFL Footy Show is outdated irrelevant garbage, an embarrasment to the code that has way outlived its expiry date.

I think Caro Wilson needs to get a sense of humour. I'm a women and I think the Footy Show is very funny. Sam is rude and irreverent, but he also makes fun of himself, and doesnt mind anyone else making fun of him either. I saw the skit Sam did about Caro's clothes and I cannot believe all the hooha than resulted from it.

The Footy Show jumped the shark when Sam wore the boot polish to send up Nicky Winmar.

I definitely disagree about the "craps all over the NRL show" it just means more people voted in a TV magazine poll. Give me Fatty and the boys over Trevor and Sammy and their pathetic jokes any day.
Flossie good for you for not being offended but that's not the point. I'm sure you are not alone, however, he has offended a section of the footballing community and failing to acknowledge that (whether he agrees or not) is now hitting Ch9 in the hip pocket.

I haven't watched TFS for ages. It's junk television. Newman is a sexist Neanderthal, and I don't blame Caro for being offended. She has certainly been critical of people and events in the footy community but she has never AFAIK got personal and crudely offensive in the way Newman did. Lyon should have had a word with him long ago. Sammy might be a great fella in all sorts of ways but when it comes to women he's a nincompoop.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

She was often personal in her attacks on Eddie and Sam, but particularly Eddie.
