    AFL wants to purchase Homebush

Unaware of contractual arrangement at SCG, surely this would mean we would have more games at Homebush?
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

$100,000 a game guarantee to the NRL clubs!!!!!

At least the swans draw a big enough crowd to make a profit!

              1. Over two hundred mill for that?

              2. Not gonna make all the other codes happy. It's 'Australia's Home Ground' ()

              3. Our lovable cross city rivals are gonna play out of there every game? Sucks to be them.

Surely the league would fix the surface and the seating configuration. Would be reasonable surely..she says having never been there.

It would have to be better than our Aurora Stadium(York Park),which is fine on a provincial level, but not Olympic level. It seems better than the low sloping AAMI stadium from the tele. Also seems better than Carrarra so could be worse.

It's the AFL's stated aim to own as many stadiums as possible where they play. Hence why they have been heavily involved in the new WA stadium and are negiotiating in SA for a new one closer to town.

This allows them to provide clean and cost effective stadium deals for all clubs to ensure their survival and makes very good sense in terms of a new Western Sydney team as they will be able to bankroll them through a preferrential stadium deal.

Good point widen the wings lose some of the retractable seating, possibly even lose the retractable

Probably make the configuration more like Telstra Dome.Wouldn't surprise if someother games were moved

Coll vs S&Don Anzac day in Sydney?

My own view it's a good idea

If the AFL shells out serious coin for Homebush, expect them to schedule us there more often as well, so they can get full value.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

And they sold AFL Park in Melbourne for $40 Million to free up some cash some years ago.

Drawing between 5k &15k a game. 200 million for a big white elephant. Surely this is the afl's dumbest move to date.

This is a decision to guaratee access to the ground, not exclude other codes. The AFL controls telstra dome, yet soccer, league and union still get to use it.

Same at homebush. Obviously the RL clubs get some charity deals that will change, but big RL games will still be played there.

Good news is, all AFL finals will be there and not shifted to a waterlogged SCG. Both Sydney teams will have a pristine training venue during summer, and the fence and surface condition will be better prepared for AFL games.
