    Tony Shaw and Liam Pickering

The Fox commentary in the Port-Swans (Round 9) game was without a shadow of doubt the most bias National broadcast I have heard in many years. The point is that the focus, particularly via Tony Shaw, was on Port, Port, and if there was any breaks, Port again.

Shaw and Liam Pickering constantly commented upon the Port's quality play, occasionally on Port's errors, and often on umpiring decisions that went against....well Port of course. Very very rarely were the Swans ever mentioned.

You would have thought that the game was being broadcasted strictly for a South Australian audience. But no, the game was broadcasted for a national audience, including New South Wales. If the AFL are realistical about developing the game in Western Sydney, it might help their cause by ensuring that the broadcasters who paid them so much money show a bit of objectivety, and remember that there are TWO teams playing the game.

Agree that Tony Saw was woeful. I didn't notice the bias so much as the constant verbal diarrhea. He talked a lot and often and generally what he said was unadulterated crap.

      Toppo - spot on !!!!

If the Swans can't win the Flag this year , I hope the Pies get it - imagine how smug Shaw would be with the title "Only Collingwood Premiership captain in 50 years."

Replace him with Glen Jakovich - a man who seems to be suprisingly objective in his asessment of the Eagles.Presumably he would be similarly unbaised when talking about other teams as well.

Hey , maybe Roos will now warn the callers , too , not to read fan forums :-)

shaw is as opinionated as any of them, lets face it .. but moreso against us is my gut feeling. The wittering on & on about the frees we got away with, almost had me throwing something at the telly.

Haven't watched the game yet, but just generally, Shaw is turning into another Robert Walls. And I'm surprised Pickers is being mentioned; I've always found him to be a decent commentator. Not fantastic, but certainly not bad, and I've never really noticed any bias on his part before towards any side.

I can't agree with this bit.

Sure, Shaw was rattling on like a lunatic today and was as biased as anyone i've ever heard, but i don't think Robert Walls is like that. To me he is fairly objective and i would even say complimentary about the Swans.

I had the "pleasure" of watching the Port/Hawthorn game last week in Adelaide on FTA. The same 2 commentators were doing that game. I had commented on how biased they were then, only to have to listen to the same crap again this week. It was unbelievably bad.

Glad someone brought this up, I usually only watch Fox in a pub, frequently with no sound. I know in the past i have heard (is it 'Jason'?) in Weagles games who doesnt acknowledge the Swannies.

Yesterday was indeed disgraceful, Pickers was waxing on about Tredrea due to one lucky bounce and a richards mistake. Shaw sounded like dementia sufferer.

Three clear throws that led to port goals and the whack to bolts head off the ball were not highlighted yet 'unpaid' frees to Port were.

In fairness heard SEN for last qtr and they just called it as a cracking game and Kirk's last quarter as one of the very best (KB).

Suggest we start a commentators "Postboard Wall of Shame" for commentators Brereton, Grant Thomas, Shaw et al, plenty of candidates.....

yep, shaw was more dreadful than usual. biased and self important. i had the same thought of hoping collingwood win a premiership soon so he is no longer the reigning last premiership captain of the pies and slinks off. also embarrassingly clumsy with unnecessary comments regarding indigenous players.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I may be the only one but i actually enjoyed Dermie special comments. To me he gave very good insight on what it was like to be a player and gave insight to little things we could of missed such as O'Loughlin trying to slightly deviate from the mark to get a better set shot angle.

Thought he was very insightful and showed hardly any bias (Well on channel 9 commentary).

No commentator is going to be completely unbiased or objective, that much is obvious. But Wallsy is pretty close to the mark. Analytically, he is without peer in my opinion.
