Pretty much spot on. Jolly probably should be in a halfway season team as the bench ruckman but I suspect if a team were picked tomorrow he wouldn't be.

Kennelly's another who, despite missing a couple of games, has probably done enough in the first half that if he has a blinder of a second half to the season, should be in strong contention. And even though Kirk has had a better first half of the year than Goodes, if they both play close to their best for the rest of the year, Goodes will probably get in and Kirk not. He just doesn't have the "flash factor" that seems required for an AA spot.

On 'Before the Bounce' last night on Foxtel the panel was suggesting that Cox and Jolly are the two form ruckmen of the competition.

It's hard to argue - McIntosh has been down on last year (although getting better) and Lade's not been as dominant in beaten sides. Same with Sandilands. The top four teams in the comp have had relatively inexperienced ruckmen in their lineups.

Hille's been pretty good but the only other contender that I can see is Charman.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

Nathan Buckley's attempt last night only had O'Keefe in his go at an AA team at the half way stage.

As much as he used to annoy the c**p out of me when he was playing as he was so good,I like his comments and his work with Dennis Commeti. Of course he must be ok..he has a pugdog

I'd have Kirk in now too.

you would have to have Kirk in there for sure.
if he continues, smokey for the brownlow i reckon kirky is, you have to remember its the umpires that vote, and he has been getting a feww frees this year from them...
                What are his odds...

Jolly AA for surein the top 2 ruckmen now in the comp.
                O'Keefe and Bolton yes.

Smokies if they continue to play well
                McVeigh
                Bevan
(unlikely but i did say smokies)

                Smokie for Rising star
Jack for sure he his more consistant than the other yng guns out there

Now, I think Bevan is better than most on here and I tell ya - I really do LOVE a smoke of the weedy kind - but that is out there

I reckon O'Keefe will be a sure thing on one of the flanks. Bolton may miss out again even though I rate him easily in the top 6 defenders in the game and really in the top 3 chb/fb/key defenders (With Scarlett and Rutten- those three are a mile in front of the rest). Jolly wont be far off if his form continues on, Goodesy will always be around about and Kirk I reckon should be there, though I doubt he will be. For as we have argued so many times before he is far from the pretty player that a Goodes or an Ablett etc are, but by gee for influence on his team and often on matches he has to be up there with the best in the comp.

I agree with robamiee about Kirky being a smokey for the brownlow- I dont think he can win it but I reckon he is a fair chance on being shoe in for most votes for a swans player (Especially if Goodes gets suspended) and I wouldnt think if he continues his superb year that he will be far from the places. Id love so much to see him get the medal, that would be an ultimate crowning glory for a superb servant of our club. Aint going to happen, but funnier things have happened.

Jack has to be in the mix for rising star on what we have seen so far, my pick for that would be Cyrol Rioli or Tippett so far, but Jack is not far behind.

Rhys Palmer would just about have it wrapped up by now. He's carrying the Freo midfield almost singlehandedly. Unless he gets injured and misses most of the rest of the season, someone else is going to have to play a blinding second half of the year to sneak home.

W-what? You haven't been watching many Freo games, have you? Rhys Palmer has been by far the best eligible player this year. Tippet and, as much as I hate to say it, Jack, have been nowhere near winning potential. Rioli more so, but still behind Palmer. Ibbotson, another Freo player, is also a very good chance.
