Sitting here in Pittsburgh after the game...9 in the morning here....with a hangover....listening to Sen after game talk. Nothing but excuses for Saint Kilda....rave after rave about Hawks, Bulldogs. Geelong seem to be suddenly out of fashion, and the ONLY mention of the Swans was a caller complaining that Goodes and Hall should not have been on the ground....and that we are umpires "pets".
Dunno the stats this year, but I do know we have been on the rough end of the stick with frees for bloody years.
What do the Swans have to do to be rated???? They really do hate us.
It so frustrates me being here and not being able to hang on the 'phone and give my 2 cents on these Melb/Perth stations....the prime offenders.

We have the finals and GF experience. Will be a huge threat to the flag this year.

They hate us, because they keep predicting that we'll slide each year, but we do not. And they can't live with that, so they vent their spleen whenever we do well.

As for Saints supporters. They're close to the biggest whingers in the AFL. It's always the umpires fault, whenever they lose. You see it all the time on bigstupid.

I listen to SEN throughout the week (I am in the car a fair bit).

I can assure you that on most SEN shows the Swans get a good wrap... commentators make the open admission that they didn't have them in contention for the year and they are wrong. KB actually says the Swans can win the flag. David Schwarz is the only one saying they are going great but 4th mean 4th - he (rightly) says he wants to see us beat all or some of Hawthorn, Geelong, Bulldogs to be elevated into the elite group (my paraphrasing here).

Late yesterday the commentary was that no-one in the 8 would want to face the Swans firstup in the finals.

Viney had a real hard go at the tribunal for the Goodes reprimand, but his argument was flawed - he said the umpire reported Goodes and that was the independent review so should have not played yesterday - the match review comittee and tribunal are the real independent reviews.

So overall I like the SEN coverage. On game day they expected so much more of the Saints they focussed on their poor showing moreso than the swans being up and about. The Saints are a Melbourne based team and are not far from crisis again so you have to expect the media to be on that bandwagon. It would be pretty tough being a Saints fan right now.

Gotta remember that it's a Melbourne based radio station too. No matter how many Swans fans we have in Melbourne, they'll never have the same audience share as StKilda. Sad but true. Get used to it. Listening to SEN against a Melbourne team is like listening to K rock against Geelong... You just know it's going to be a biased call.

The worst show on SEN is from 9am (or is it 10am) on Saturday mornings with Craig Hutchinson and Liam Pickering. Usually I am in the garden with the radio on and can't wait until the footy broadcasts start on the other channels (coodabeens survive the times). CH is only interested in being the story (or behind the story) instead of reporting footy news. If you love your footy his speak is tripe.

Last Saturday he and Liam decidied that no SMS's would be censored and they would be read out. After 4 uncensored SMS's CH killed the idea - they were scathing of him.

The fairest radio jock in dealing with listeners calling in is, in my opinion, Kevin Bartlett.

Bedford (Peter, no 10 if my memory serves me right - what a gutsy player & leader in difficult days).... are you talking about CH and LP as well - if so we have different views.

I think Dennis Cometti and then Tony Leonard are the better callers on 3AW (if Rex is calling I turn the dial as I want to follow the game). Rarely listen to 3LO as the call is ok but you don't feel like you are at the game - but I am partial to the continued wit of the coodabeens (hence the Sat morning comment)... there should be a book on Guru Bob'isms.

I refuse to listen to the turkeys that call games in SA for SEN - Jarman is an outright goose of a caller, in fact - an idiot.

Regardless we are both Swans supporters and you must be a great bloke
