There were various comments, on this site and elsewhere, that were conflicting over whether Hall would be back this week or not.

Greeted warmly at training yet another report to say the players were surprised.
"Just when we thought Hall may be back..."
"Hall back for rd 18"
Hall might be back in the "next two or three".
"When and if he comes back"

As well as various other comments about luck or expediency on his return this week.

Did anyone say he had a mental problem? What do you mean by mental?He had a behavioural problem (anger, lack of self control and inability to focus) which may have been caused by what (depression or stress) no one knows or has a right to know. If it was an episodic depression then a two week period of "recovery" is not unusual or a joke. The cause of his obvious behavioural problem is a matter of confidentiality. The club far from looking like a joke has acted responsibly and under its legal obligations. Your suggestion that the club deliberately mislead its supporters and the AFL and publicly lie regarding his non-selection would have been exposed very quickly.

A mental problem is a problem in your head, with your mind. So, unless his legs were angry or his arms weren't behaving, then those issues you mentioned are mental issues.

They should have come out and said that Hall is not playing within the guidelines set out by the club, and he would be spoken to.

No talk of his private issues.
No talk of club suspensions.

So you believe that something less than the truth (confidentiality issues aside) should have been said. And the issue should have been shrouded in spin, smokes and mirrors? And the supporters treated like mushrooms? So Hall's self-denial (which he has admitted) would be reinforced by the clubs lass than honest approach. So the club says to the player be honest. But the club bull***** the world at large. There seems to be a flaw in this approach.

If O'Loughlin was fit this week, Hall wouldn't be back.

To be honest, he should have been back last week anyway. There was no way he was 'mentally unfit' to play, he served his suspension and should have played last weekend. The Swans wanted to sate the rabid Melbourne media and now they look like soft-cocks by bringing him back.

Meh. I want him to play. He's playing. I'm happy.

I;m glad he's playing too but I believe Paul Roos. For one second, stop being a sceptic & think about Hall. He's a person that has even admitted he's got a problem. Paul is a decent human being - I don't doubt that he's got pressure on him for wins but I do not think that MOL injury has anything to do with it. What will Barry Hall & the club be if he comes back, belts somebody & is sacked. Paul has also said that he'll pull Hall from the field when he sees him getting frustrated. Back the coach and the club.

So the football world's perception of the Swans has become a major influence on how the team should act???

My biggest concern was that whilst Barry Hall was being continually niggled by Wakelin (or others of his ilk for that matter) there was not 1 single Swans player coming in to bat for Hally. He simply needs someone else to come in between him and the full back just as support occassionally. I know he's a big bloke and can look after himself but that's the way we used to play and from what I know it's a team game and at times you need your teammates to stand up and support you.

Hally cannot be excused for what he did but it would help, if he is once again continually niggled, to have some sort of support, whether by a teammate or the coaching staff in perhaps making a positional move.

Yep, exactly. He got a week for a miss. An additional modest fine by the club would have appropriate. Wakelin's dive sould have attracted a fine as well. Hall will be be niggled like buggeree now, so he will need some support.

You're joking right?
By your line of reasoning, every player injury should be fully disclosed, with x-rays, medical reports and player family interviews.

It's about respecting the privacy of a player.
Nothing wrong with keeping these issues in-house.

I don't see anyone slamming Roos here.
I personally think the Swans could have handled the whole thing better.
It kind of turned into a circus.

My brother-in-law is a North supporter and good mates with Glen Archer. Arch told him it was something rather minor, and it was blown up to be a big deal. I won't say what it was here just in case there are possible legal issues, but it would make you either laugh or wonder what all of the fuss was about.

A shame that this didn't all happen last week - I mean with the Pope here and all and they needing one more Miracle to enable Mother Mary McKillop to be made a saint - I mean Baz's instant recovery is of miracle proportions - surely that is all the proof the boffins at the vatican need - with P-Benny being witness too it?
