    Match Thread

Whats with the goal by goal description of the games?

Last thing I want to do is use my laptop while a game of footy is on.

Seems like a strange thing to do, but maybe I am showing my age.

It's a service normally performed by some kind soul (read: super geek) for people who have no access to the game (those overseas, those in Melbourne without foxtel or live coverage, etc.)
And yes, you're showing your age.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

When watching a game it's usual for people to comment on what is happening to (or swear at) those around them. For me, if watching the game at home it gives me that outlet. Also, some people only get the radio (or sometimes nothing but the internet) so gives them a chance to hear some views from people watching.

Yep, at times when I haven't been able to get any broadcasts, this has been a great way to know how the game is going rather than just AFL game day live.

Yep, me too. Messages are often sent during ad breaks between goals.

The comments during the game on the game day thread are a lifeline for me...as I only get the radio a lot of the time due to the TV scheduling and my financial circumstances that limit access to pay TV.

I find your comments puzzling that you don't understand that.

The match thread has a huge viewership.

If you are on this site you cant get enough of Swans passion for the game.
Not always the most positive comments but the passion of a game is soooooo much better than the sterile newspaper reports.

Keep it up to all involved. We love reading it all!

Well, it's always highly amusing to read the trail of pessimistic posts that go with an ordinary display by the boys (eg. Carlton) that ever so slightly .. shifts gears to WOW - we won!

                          Aren't we good ..

cough cough .. err yeah .. right

Sunday's loss to the Dogs followed a similar posting pattern .. but @rse-about sorry to say.

That Carlton thread was a great one. I was so disappointed at the way they were playing I had to get online and tell someone (anyone) about it. I'm glad I did.
