    Lewis roberts-thomson

I dont know about anyone else but i really think he needs to get his act together. I've heard he will be traded this year. He just cant defend. He needs some passion for the game or something. he needs to think about what he is doing. He is playing apallingly...

He's not great, but who else do we have? Barry is just about done and the young potential options haven't played a game.

I get as frustrated as the next person regarding LRT's decision making, but I don't for a second think the kid doesn't try.

Of course he tries..in fact I think he's as intelligent a handballer as we have in the side..now, his decision making with the foot is scary sometimes, but for all the heart in the mouth moments he is not the clanger king many think.
And, he's nine feet tall..we're desperate for height in defence,..he's the best we've currently got.
              As for trading, dream on!

Look who he is asked to play on!!!

PAV 5times AA, 5 times B&F.... elite That was just the last one!

......and you worry about what he does when he gets the ball?

Not elite but tried his heart out... very close to Norm Smith

                  Wow... What an opening post...

Your first post and it not only calls for the sacking of a premiership player, but atarts speculation of a trade at the end of the year.

An impressive start to RWO posting indeed.

Forgive my sceptism, but one might think you had an alterior motive for such a post.

Care to enlighten us with a source for your scurrilous rumours or justification as to why you would post such vitriol on your first ever post on RWO?

You have the wrong player there sport. LRT tries his heart out every game, is tall, quick, a tad unco-ordinated and very awkward. He won't be traded as we need tall defenders.

Scary though it often is I think LRT adds a key ingedient to our backline.
The backline can be a pressure cooker and every mistake amplified. The forwards can let it rebound and let the midfield try to save it. The backmen... well there is no one behind them!

LRT still takes a good mark and is asked to cover a key tall from the opposition each week.

The job needs to be done and he is our best at it.

I think the 2005 Norm Smith was his if the "awarders" hadn't been blinded by the name Judd and had looked at the actual contribution on the day.
When all else seemed in disarray he showed remarkable strength and run.

                      One of our favourites!

LRT's mistakes get amplified by the mistakes of the players around him...

Like I posted a few days ago, he has the ability the be brilliant and I think he will be, he's still really young. We got him straight out of Schoolboy rugby, and realistically he has probably done more than was anticipated...so far

And heart is everything, the bloods ethos is to commit yourself heart and soul which he does week in week out. Once we get the attacking structure right around him (ie a fit and well balanced defensive line) his strengths will become more tangible. At the moment he is suffering because our structure isn't right for the speed of what AFL has become.

I agree that there are things he does that make us all cringe and ask "why" but I don't think it is solely a reflection of his own performance, we are a champion team, and rely on the collaboration factor.

If he was traded, I would bank on threads on RWO in 2-3 years to come with us all saying "we weren't patient enough" even though many will no doubt slay me now saying im talking rubbish and he has to go.

Im not his greatest fan, but I think a bit more time is needed with this one as he came to the game and contributed to our premiership in the "lockdown" era, and now needs to learn his role in the "speed" era
"We talked five times. I called him twice, and he called me twice."   :D

Excluding his first few games this year, when he was in the very unfamiliar position of ruckman, and as a result can't be fairly brought into the discussion, LRT has been ordinary for most games, genuinely terrible in one or two, and fairly good in two or three. That's how I've read his performance anyway.

At the Freo game, I thought LRT did a very good job on Pavlich in the first half, when the Freo star was playing forward. Then, Pav was moved through the midfield and into defence in order to inject him into the game, and LRT simply wasn't versatile enough to follow him there and do a good job. I haven't seen a replay of the match, and it wasn't a matchup I was watching particularly closely, so I may have got that wrong, but that's how it seemed to me.

Basically, I think LRT is still working back into the game after his injury-riddled season last year. I reckon if he gets another good preseason under him, and gets his confidence up (perhaps a team intervention a la the Bevonator would do the trick...), he'll be back playing like he has in the past. He has shown flashes of it this year. SOS saw something in him. I see no reason why whatever he saw should have disappeared.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

                              Are you kidding?

You do know that Lewie grew up playing thugby don't you? He's not as experienced as someone who comes from Victoria and has played the game since they could walk.

I reckon he has as much heart for the game and for the swans as Kirky has.

He's been asked to step up this year with Leaping Leo out and he's done an admirable job.

Quite often, the very last line of defence.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
