    Daniel Currie

How far off playing is he? Does anybody know?

Peter Everitt look all out of sorts tonight, and he rarely hit a target. Time to blood Currie, I think.

    Who else agrees?

I thought everitt had his best game for the year possession wise.
He is struggling in the ruck dept still, but only missed one target IIRC, which cost a goal.

The season isnt over yet. Losing to Geelong by 40 points, is exactly what was expected.

Everitt played better than Jolly, so he'll survive. Its his last year though.

Currie won't play senior football until next year.

Unfair to single out Spida tonight when Jolly had 4 or so possessions.

LRT always tries, just doesn't always succeed.
Who's bagging LRT in this thread?

Just in the gameday thread, that's all.

I just think Everitt is getting on in years, it's time to bring in more youth like Currie or White, Currie in particular, heard some good things about him.

His kick across goal was a disgrace.

He didn't miss a target at all, he didn't miss kick it, he just floated a kick up in the air to the top of the 50.

One of the dumbest kicks in afl I have ever seen.

It ranks along side the Lablett one.

I thought Everitt played ok..when he was in the ruck we went well. He was better than Jolly last night.

I will admit I went to bed after his kick across goal as I had a really depressing day and I didn't want the Swans to make it worse. It was dumb and he knew it but at least he was doing a bit around the ground.

The biggest problem with him is his lack of mobility. I remember at one stage early in the game, he was in the cats goal square with another swan, and one cat. The comintaters called it a two on one for the swans, but Spider couldn't move. He just watched the play happen and waited for the ball to come to him.

And yeah, I know i'll cop it for cominaters. I can't think right now.

I agree that Spida played one of his better games last night. Rucking and his possesssions were reasonable (with one glaring error). You can tell he still has the smarts but the body just isnt what it used to be.

I was watching run forward last night into the pocket near us and it looked like a baby giraffe taking its first steps. You know what I mean. When they first get up and they are all at sea. Couldnt help but have a chuckle to myself!

On LRT, he got caught out a few times on Mooney last night but the way the ball was coming in, he was on hiding to nothing. He held his own in some one on one contests and IMO played one of his better games in a while last night.

I thought he was crap as usual. I think we all have to face the fact that recruiting him was a big mistake. We gave up a 2nd round pick in a very strong draft for an old giraffe with bad knees.

I don't think it was that big a mistake. It gave us the opportunity to draft Currie as a bottom age player, because it bought us an extra year of development for him. It also allowed us to take a punt on Orreal.

Another factor is simply timing. If we'd got Everitt in 2006, I'm 99% sure we'd have gone back to back. In 2007, Everitt was raring to go, but the rest of the team wasn't quite up to it. This year, we're playing better, but Everitt's body gave up a year too soon.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!
