Maths to make the 8 (not many options)

If we win our last 2 games we are 4th unless:
    a) Adelaide beat both of St Kilda (@ TD) & Bulldogs (AAMI) or
    b) North beat both of Geelong (@ Geelong) & Port (MCG)

If we win 0 we make the eight if either:
    a) Brisbane lose to Carlton (Gabba) or
    b) St Kilda lose 2 of Freo (tonight @ Sub) or Adelaide (TD) or Essendon (TD)

If we beat Collingwood and lose to the Lions (and the saints lose one of their last 3 games)
a)we get a home final (agianst the Pies) provided the Pies beat Freo in R22.
    b) we get a home final (against the Lions) If Freo beats the Pies or we play the Saints (in Sydney) if the saints win their 2 games by strong margins.
    c) we get a home final (against the saints) If Freo beats the Pies and Carlton beats the Lions in R21

If we beat Collingwood and lose to the Lions (and the saints win all their last 3 games)
a)we finish 7th and play the saints in Melbourne in week one of the finals

If we beat Brisbane and lose to the Pies
There are a stack of options - we could finish anywhere between 4th and 8th.

I reckon we will finish 4th if we win both and 5th or 6th if we win one. As long as we can get a home final I would be more then happy with the season to be honest. I dont expect much more then that in the finals but who knows?

Does anyone think NM are good enough to beat the cats this week? If they do then bye bye top 4 as they will not lose to PA. I hate depending on other teams to lose as well as knowing we have to win our 2 games. Who really thinks we will beat Collingwood and the Lions are a worry at the SCG with Brown and Bradshaw firing. Lets just hope Hall and Goodes are firing too>

Pies are worry but I don't think the Lions are - their delivery to Bradshaw and Brown is generally pathetic. I thought their performance against the Dogs was more a reflection of the Dogs form drop than a marked improvement in the squad that played against Hawks (which would have to be the worst game for a while).

          Based on current form lines:

          Swans >> Dogs >> Lions

I?m not overly disappointed with the way we played on Saturday and if we play as well as that or a touch better we will defeat Collingwood for sure. Geelong is a superb side that are on top of their game but I still think the final margin flattered them. We outplayed them in Q4 (Ottens kicked a goal after the siren to take some gloss off our final quarter effort), we broke even in Q2 and if not for the dodgy umpiring in Q1 as mentioned elsewhere would have broken even in Q1 as well. There wasn't much to separate us in general play. Geelong really stepped up in Q3 and produced an awesome quarter of football that decided the match.

We weren?t at full strength but then again neither were Geelong and the omissions offset each other. Both sides have room for improvement with players to come back.

As long as the Bloods persist with a long kicking game plan, run the lines and take risks they?ll beat the Pies. If they go back into their shells and revert to that defensive, keepings off rubbish that doesn?t work against sides like Collingwood or the Crows then they?ll be in trouble.
