This is our man we must lure to the Swans.

Yep, but not even $2 million a year is going to tempt him to move to Sydney.

He wants to play in Melbourne so that is where he will end up at one of the 10 options.

The eagles will want a first round draft pick and a decent player, at the very least.

So for us to get Kerr, we would have to give up say pick 9 and Amon Buchanan.

Who here would be willing to do that trade?

It's all good and well to throw names around when talking about recruiting in the off season, but many people on here fail to realise that the price is high no matter who you're going after. We gave up a 2nd round pick for Everitt FFS. Clubs don't let quality players go unless they would be significantly advantaged in the trade deal.

this ain't a top-up-and-go-one-better year. same for cousins, j. brown, pavlich or any other big-ticket star.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

the eagles want a top 5 pick + another top 10 pick. We cant offer that imo no matter what our trading strategy was (Unless we traded ROK and Goodes or something). Aint going to happen. Id be happy with Kerr at the club as he is only 25 or 26, but no way will he be coming to sydney.

Kerr's output since the demise of the Eagles midfield has been inconsistent at best. He has a history of poor behaviour both on and off the field, resulting in multiple suspensions and off field dramas.
And the Eagles want 2 first round picks for him.....no thanks.

Poor behaviour has never stopped us recruiting anyone! What we can give in return is not going to be good enough.

He doesn't seem like a particularly stable person, on or off field, and it's not known if he's even interested in the Swans. Plus, he'd come at a huge cost. We need a midfielder, but surely there's better options.

I'd honestly do that trade if it was on the table.

At 25 Kerr is probably a different proposition than the 20-23 yo. Maybe he's realised that his career is not going reach the heights and knows he's got to put his head down to make it (all maybe's I know).
It's an expensive trade but he is a good footballer. Getting him away from the West and out of the spotlight in Vic could work. I think that trade for Buchanan would be nice but can't see WCE taking it. They need forwards (don't we all).

Sad to say, as I love monty (in a manly sort of way), but yes I'd do that trade to. If you can keep him uninjured and unsuspended, he would be a huge asset to our old, slow midfield.

If Kerr has some sense, Sydney would be a preferred option. The temptation to fall into old immature habits is too great in Melbourne. Sydney means he's at least on the right coast and he needs to get the most out himself as a player and a person over the next 5 years...Swans are known for it (Spida aside).

Pick 9 and Amon?? I'd grab it in a New York minute! BUT, it ain't gonna happen.

Pick 9 + Davo + Brabazon? Gives them a top 10 draft pick, a forward for a few years and a young Western Australian who may be seen to have a bit of potential?
